Type A Things💕

You don't need Al or a fancy app. You just need to start running your life like a business or a school.

I realized that most of my struggles in adulthood came down to one thing: a lack of. structure. So I made it my goal this year to change that.

I started by building systems using simple tools I already had: Apple Calendar, Apple Reminders, and alarms. I created a calendar for each area of my life (like Health, Work, Personal routines, and chores) and scheduled everything I could. I love using the repeat feature to help automate this process. I even added alarms to notify me when it's time to shift tasks, kind of like a school bell.

I created a matching reminders folders for each calendar to keep me organized and to pretty much automated my daily to do list.

Since doing this, l've noticed a few big changes:

Less decision fatigue: I don't waste time figuring out what to do each day I already know.

More focus: I scroll on social media way less because my time is more structured.

Better awareness: I have a clearer understanding of how little time there actually is in a day, and how important it is to use it wisely.

Not every day goes perfectly, and that's okay.

But having a system in place gives me something to return to when life gets chaotic.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, start small.

Pick one area of your life and give it structure.

The clarity that comes with it is worth it.

Utilizing multiple calendars for different aspects of life—such as Health, Work, Personal routines, and Chores—helps compartmentalize tasks and responsibilities. Apple Calendar and Apple Reminders are excellent tools for this purpose, featuring scheduling and repeat options to automate recurring activities efficiently. One effective method is to integrate alarms as task-switch notifications, similar to school bells, which signal transitions and help maintain momentum. Matching reminder folders for each calendar category keep daily to-do lists organized and streamline workflows, enabling automation of routine activities like bills, household chores, and work deadlines. By adopting these habits, you lessen decision fatigue since daily choices about what to do next are predetermined by your system. This creates more mental space and energy for focused work rather than distractions like social media. Furthermore, the structured approach enhances your awareness of time constraints, motivating wiser use of each day. The key is consistency combined with flexibility; not all days will follow the plan perfectly, but the overall system provides a reliable framework to return to during chaos. Starting with a single area of life to add structure minimizes overwhelm and builds momentum toward greater self-management. Incorporating these techniques transforms how you approach adult responsibilities—turning life into an organized, manageable, and fulfilling journey.
