$1 Oyster at Modern Thai Restaurant

🇹🇭 HUE Restaurant

$1 OYSTERS?! 🦪 right here at HUE, a modern thai spot serving up traditional flavours with a twist.

We began with the fresh oysters, which were clean and fresh, complemented well by the sweet green chilli sauce on the side. At $1 per oyster during the promotion, the quality to price ratio is crazy and easily one of the biggest highlights on the menu.

We also had the Garlilicious Prawns (SGD30), which has a strong truffle aroma. Paired with the Claw-Some Rice (SGD32), which had fragrant rice generously topped with crab meat and crunch of small prawns. The Thai Spices Chicky (SGD28) was decent and balanced seasoned, though it did not stand out as much compared to the other dishes.

For dessert, we had the Matcha Me Cheese (SGD16), a Thai green tea cheesecake served with yuzu ice cream, which offered a unique flavour profile. The citrus notes from the yuzu provided a refreshing sour contrast to the cheesecake.

Beyond the food, it’s also a great spot to wind down with drinks as they’ve got a lineup of interesting curated cocktails and bar bites that make it perfect for a casual night out. Pair that with their $1 oysters and it easily doubles up as a solid drinking spot. 🍸🦪

... Read moreDuring my visit to HUE at Jalan Besar, the $1 oyster promotion truly stood out as a fantastic value for the quality offered. The oysters were incredibly fresh, their natural briny taste enhanced beautifully by the tangy sweet chilli sauce, which added just the right amount of zest without overpowering the seafood. Beyond the oysters, trying the truffle garlic prawns was a treat thanks to the rich aroma and generous garlic butter sauce that made each bite memorable. Pairing the Claw-Some Rice topped with crab meat alongside elevated the meal with textures and a hint of sweetness from the seafood. I found this rice dish to be a perfect match for sharing. The Thai Spices Chicken, although pleasant and well-seasoned, felt a bit milder next to the more intense offerings, but it balanced the meal well. For dessert, the Matcha Me Cheese—a creative Thai green tea cheesecake served with refreshing yuzu ice cream—offered an intriguing blend of earthy and citrus flavors that was a delightful end to the meal. What I appreciated most about HUE was the inviting casual atmosphere ideal for unwinding with curated cocktails and bar bites, especially taking advantage of their $1 oysters and happy hour deals like the Guinness at SGD 8 per pint. This combination makes it a go-to spot for both food lovers and those seeking a relaxed night out. If you’re planning to visit, I recommend arriving early to catch the oyster deal and exploring their drinks menu to complement your meal. HUE balances traditional Thai flavors with modern twists, making it a standout location in the heart of Jalan Besar—definitely worth a visit for anyone craving authentic yet inventive Thai cuisine combined with great seafood deals.
