NYC’s Newest Japanese Matcha Dessert Spot 💚✨

I’ve been walking past Nana’s Green Tea in K-Town for months wondering when it would finally open — and now it’s here!! Of course, I had to try almost everything on the menu for research purposes 😅

If you’re a matcha fan (or a hojicha fan!), this place is basically your dream come true. Everything is either matcha or roasted tea flavored, and honestly, most of it slaps.

✨ Matcha Mochi Parfait / Hojicha Warabi Mochi Parfait

Both are amazing — not too sweet, super balanced flavors. The toppings are the best part: warabi mochi, shiratama (rice dumplings), red bean, jelly, soft serve… all layered perfectly.

✅ My pick: the Hojicha Warabi Mochi version — unique & delicious!

✨ Matcha Float with Mochi

You can choose the sweetness level — I got it less sweet, and it was so refreshing. The chewy mochi inside? Perfection.

✨ Matcha Frappe with Warabi Mochi + Mochi

Smooth, icy matcha goodness. Just a tip: eat the toppings quickly or they’ll get a little hard from the cold!

✨ Matcha Cheesecake

Soft and moist with a strong matcha flavor — a bit on the sweeter side, so great for dessert lovers with a sweet tooth.

📌 Final Thoughts:

✔️ Parfaits are a must — flavorful, well-layered, and super Instagrammable

✔️ Perfect place for matcha/hojicha fans who don’t like things overly sweet

✔️ Chill, minimalist vibe — ideal for a midtown coffee/dessert break

... Read moreOkay, so let me tell you more about my obsession with Nana's Green Tea in K-Town! When I first saw that 'NOW OPEN' sign, I literally counted down the days. Having heard so much about their reputation in Japan, I was buzzing to see if this NYC location would live up to the hype. And let me tell you, it absolutely did! This isn't just another dessert spot; it's a true Japanese Matcha Heaven, bringing authentic flavors right to New York. Beyond just the delicious taste, what truly sets their desserts apart is the quality of ingredients and the artistry in presentation. Take the parfaits, for instance – they're not just 'dreamy matcha parfaits' by name; they're meticulously layered works of art. Each component plays a crucial role. The warabi mochi, a jelly-like confection with a delicate chew, and the shiratama, those wonderfully bouncy rice dumplings, add incredible texture. And the red bean paste (anko) isn't overly sweet, providing that perfect earthy balance to the sometimes intense matcha or roasted hojicha. This attention to detail is what makes them so much more than just a typical ice cream sundae. For those new to Japanese desserts, a quick tip: don't be afraid to try the hojicha options! While matcha gets all the glory, hojicha, which is roasted green tea, offers a warm, nutty, and less astringent flavor profile that's incredibly comforting. Their Hojicha Warabi Mochi Parfait, for me, was a delightful discovery, proving that sometimes branching out from the classic matcha is totally worth it. The cafe interior itself is another highlight. It's got this wonderfully chill, minimalist vibe – exactly what you'd expect from a modern Japanese cafe. Lots of natural light, clean lines, and comfortable seating make it an ideal spot for a quiet afternoon break, catching up with a friend, or even getting some work done. It’s a refreshing escape from the usual Midtown hustle. You can tell they put a lot of thought into creating a serene environment that complements the delicate flavors of their teas and desserts. If you're planning a visit, I'd suggest going during off-peak hours if you want to snag a good seat and really soak in the atmosphere. And definitely don't rush your parfait – take your time to savor each layer! Whether you're a seasoned matcha connoisseur or just curious about Japanese sweets, Nana's Green Tea in NYC is a fantastic spot to explore. It’s quickly become one of my go-to places for an authentic and satisfying dessert experience that goes beyond the ordinary.
