White chocolate chip and walnut cookies combine the sweetness of creamy white chocolate with the rich, crunchy texture of toasted walnuts, creating a delightful contrast that appeals to many cookie lovers. This classic cookie recipe yields 16 cookies, ideal for sharing or storing for later enjoyment. Using softened butter helps to achieve a tender crumb, while the combination of granulated and brown sugars adds depth to the sweetness and enhances moisture retention, resulting in soft, chewy cookies. Vanilla extract plays an essential role in enhancing the overall flavor, complementing the white chocolate and nuts beautifully. The use of baking soda and baking powder provides leavening that allows the cookies to rise just enough to be fluffy without losing their chewiness. Salt balances the sweetness and accentuates the other flavors. For the best results, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and allow even baking. Scoop the dough in approximate 2-tablespoon portions to ensure uniform cookie sizes and bake them for 10-12 minutes, until the edges start to lightly brown. Letting the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring them to a rack helps them set and prevents breakage. This recipe can be customized by substituting walnuts with pecans for a slightly different nutty flavor or by adding a dash of cinnamon or orange zest to elevate the flavor profile. For a gluten-free option, try using a certified gluten-free flour blend instead of all-purpose flour. Whether for a cozy family gathering or an everyday treat, white chocolate chip and walnut cookies are a delicious option that combines texture and sweetness. Their homemade nature ensures authenticity, freshness, and the ability to control ingredients, making them a comforting and rewarding baking project.
