Clean up your iMessage Apps with this handy feature! #tailormadetech #apple #iostips #iostipsandtricks #lemon8creator #lemon8tech #tech
Okay, so we've all been there, right? Your iMessage conversations start looking like a digital junk drawer, especially with all those old polls hanging around! I used to get so frustrated trying to figure out how to get rid of them. The original post touches on cleaning up your iMessage apps in general, but let's dive deeper into those specific poll messages that just won't go away. First off, it’s important to understand that most iMessage polls aren't a native Apple feature but come from third-party apps integrated into iMessage. This means you usually can't 'delete the poll' itself as a standalone item; instead, you delete the message bubble that contains the poll. Here’s my go-to method for decluttering those poll messages: Find the Culprit: Open the iMessage conversation where the poll is located. Scroll through to find the specific poll message you want to remove. Long-Press to Delete: Once you’ve found the poll message bubble, tap and hold on it. A menu will pop up. More Options: From the menu, tap on "More..." (You might see "Copy," "Reply," "Forward," and then "More..."). Select & Delete: This will put you into an editing mode where checkboxes appear next to each message. Tap the checkbox next to the poll message you want to delete. You can select multiple messages if you want to clear out a whole string of old polls. Trash It! In the bottom left corner, you’ll see a trash can icon. Tap it, then confirm by tapping "Delete Message" or "Delete Conversation" if you're clearing out everything. Voila! That pesky poll is gone. This works for any message bubble, so it's a super useful trick for general cleanup too. Now, what if you want to prevent poll clutter in the future? This is where managing your iMessage apps comes in, just like the original article hinted at. If you're constantly seeing unwanted polls from an app you barely use, maybe it's time to manage that app itself. You know how you swipe right to left over the apps bar at the bottom of your iMessage conversation? That’s your app drawer with all your iMessage Apps like Photos, YouTube, eBayStickers, BeReal, ESPN, Fidelity, Shazam, TikTok, Venmo, GIPHY, Hopper, OpenTable, and those fun Ted Lasso Stickers! To truly clean house: Access App Drawer: In any iMessage conversation, tap the App Store icon next to the text input field. More Apps: Swipe right to left across the row of apps until you see the "More" icon (three dots). Tap it. This takes you to the "MORE APPS" section. Edit Your Apps: Here, you'll see a list of all your enabled iMessage apps. At the top right, tap the "Edit" button. Disable or Remove: Now you can toggle off any apps you don't use often, especially those that might generate unwanted content like polls. If you see an app that specifically creates polls and you don't want it, toggle it off. You can also reorder your FAVORITES here to keep your most-used apps handy. To completely remove an app that's not a default Apple app, you might need to delete it from your iPhone's home screen, which often removes its iMessage extension too. By regularly going through these steps, you can keep your iMessage clean, organized, and free from old poll clutter. It’s amazing how much smoother your messaging experience becomes when you take a few minutes to declutter!
