iOS 26 Features Part 7: Old Photos app is BACK

2025/9/15 Edited to

... Read moreWith the iOS 26 update bringing back the old Photos app interface, users are greeted with a nostalgic yet enhanced photo management experience. The classic layout reintroduces familiar features while integrating new organizational tools, making photo browsing more intuitive and enjoyable. Notably, the app now features enhanced syncing options that allow users to pause and resume library syncing, helpful for managing bandwidth or data usage. The photo library is now organized into clear sections such as Featured Photos, Pinned, Favorites, Memories, and Recently Saved, helping users quickly find specific images or relive moments efficiently. Users can also sort photos by Recently Added, Date Captured, Months, and Years, providing flexible viewing options to suit different preferences. Additionally, iOS 26 includes improved notification management for the Photos app, part of the 'NoOlder Notifications' and 'DoNotDisturb' features, ensuring photo sync alerts and updates are less intrusive. These measures help maintain focus while still keeping photo activity transparent. The integration of video handling within the classic Photos app is also notable; recently saved videos can be easily accessed alongside photos, supporting a more multimedia-centric library approach. In essence, this update not only restores a beloved app design but enriches it with modern functionality aimed at enhancing user control and enjoyment. For Apple fans and new users alike, the old Photos app's return in iOS 26 represents a thoughtful blend of legacy UI and contemporary features, streamlining the overall photo and video management process.
