Happy Pink Flamingo Day 🦩 AND National Pink Day 🎀

Here are some fun flamingo facts:

💗 Did you know flamingos get their pink color from the carotenoid pigments in their food?

💗 A group of flamingos is called a “flamboyance.” In the wild, these groups can be made up of thousands of birds!

💗 Flamingos can stand on one leg for four hours without getting tired.

💗 Flamingos are filter feeders and turn their heads “upside down” to eat.

How do flamingos keep in touch with each other? Through flockbook. 😂

... Read moreWow, I've seen so many of you asking 'What kind of dog is this?' about my adorable pup in her Pink Flamingo Day outfit! It warms my heart that you're just as curious about her as I am sometimes. It's super common to wonder about a dog's breed when you see a cute photo, especially with so many unique and wonderful pups out there. My sweet black dog, with her wonderfully large ears, always gets a lot of attention, and I completely understand why! Identifying a dog's breed from just a picture can be a fun challenge, but it's not always straightforward. Sometimes, even purebred dogs can have variations, and let's not even start on the incredible diversity of mixed breeds! When I'm trying to guess a dog's background, I always look for a few key things. First, ears and coat are huge clues. Does the dog have those distinctive large ears like my black dog? Are they floppy, pointed, or something in between? What about their fur – is it short, long, curly, or wire-haired? My sweet girl has a sleek black coat and those expressive large ears, which makes people guess all sorts of breeds like a German Shepherd mix, a Black Mouth Cur, or even a hound blend! Next, size and build matter. Is the dog slender and athletic, or more sturdy and compact? Even their tail can give hints – is it curled, bushy, or straight? For my pup, her medium build and how she carries herself really make you think. You can see in her photos, whether she's sitting on the sidewalk or lying down, she has a very alert and gentle demeanor. Her festive pink bandana, adorned with those fun flamingo patterns, really highlights her personality and makes her look extra special for Pink Flamingo Day. If you're really stumped, a lot of people are turning to dog DNA tests these days. They can be fascinating! While I haven't done one for my girl yet, I've heard amazing stories from friends who discovered unexpected mixes in their beloved pets. It’s a great way to learn about potential health considerations or even just satisfy your curiosity about their heritage. Plus, knowing more about their breed tendencies can help with training and understanding their energy levels. For my lovely black dog with her prominent large ears, she absolutely rocked her pink bandana adorned with flamingo patterns for both Pink Flamingo Day and National Pink Day! It was such a joy to see her celebrating. She definitely knows how to make a statement, and her unique look always sparks conversation. Even without knowing her exact breed, her personality shines through, making her the perfect ambassador for any fun occasion. She looked absolutely radiant, especially against the green grass in one of her photos, perfectly embodying the spirit of National Pink Day. Ultimately, whether a dog is a purebred champion or a wonderful mix of many, what truly matters is the love and companionship they bring into our lives. But I totally get the curiosity! It's part of appreciating every dog's unique beauty. So, while I can't give you a definitive breed name for my darling, I hope these tips help you on your own dog-spotting adventures. Keep an eye out for those adorable large ears and stylish pink bandanas – you never know what wonderful dog you might discover next! Every dog has a story, and sometimes, their appearance tells a big part of it.
