As Christians, we are no longer subjected to the power of sin or fear that was held over us before we became saved. We now have the Holy Spirit in us, who has bonded us with God and because of this we can confidently call God our Father. The Holy Spirit is what confirms in us that we are children of God. The Bible defines the Holy Spirit as our guarantee of an eternal life with the Father. As children of God we become co-heirs with Christ, and we will partake in the inheritance that God, the Father, gave to His son.

Romans 8:16, which says, "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God," has often been a powerful reminder during moments of doubt or fear. This mutual witness between our own spirit and the Holy Spirit brings a deep sense of peace and confidence that we are truly part of God's family. Before fully understanding this, I often felt overwhelmed by the fear of sin and my own shortcomings. However, embracing the Holy Spirit’s role as an internal guide and guarantee has shifted my perspective entirely. It reminds me that I am no longer bound by sin but live in the freedom granted through Christ. The idea of becoming co-heirs with Christ and sharing in God's inheritance feels very personal when I meditate on this promise. In practical terms, the Holy Spirit helps foster a direct relationship with God as our Father, encouraging daily prayer and a sense of belonging. It’s like having an internal compass and source of comfort that continually points me back to God’s love. For anyone exploring their faith or struggling with feelings of inadequacy, recognizing the Holy Spirit as a seal of our salvation can be deeply empowering and hopeful.
