Trying sushi nachos and flying noodles at Godaiko
Got the freshest sashimi and sushi rolls from Godaiko. I really enjoyed their ocean roll and flaming yellowtail sashimi! Their sushi nachos is also a must try and gluten free soy sauce and soy wraps are available upon request!
Portion sizes here are generous and even their Superbowl Ramen bowl was plentiful. No wonder they say you never leave godaiko hungry

As a local foodie, I'm always on the hunt for delicious spots, and let me tell you, Godaiko in Ann Arbor is a true gem! This Japanese fusion restaurant has been a local favorite for over 30 years, serving up incredibly fresh sushi and innovative Japanese dishes. If you're looking to explore their menu, here's a deep dive into some of my absolute must-try items. First up, you simply have to try their Sushi Nachos. This dish totally blew me away! They’re loaded with fresh tuna and creamy avocado, creating a perfect blend of textures and flavors. It's such a unique and addictive starter, and honestly, it’s easy to see why regulars love them. For those with dietary needs, it's great to know that gluten-free soy sauce is available upon request here, which is always a plus. Another showstopper from their menu is the Flaming Yellowtail Sashimi. Not only is it incredibly fresh and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, but it also comes with a super cool, fiery presentation right at your table. It adds a bit of theatrical flair to your meal that makes the experience even more memorable. Beyond these unique starters, their sushi rolls are exceptional. The chef at Godaiko truly creates art on a plate. I was particularly impressed with the Ocean Roll; it was beautiful to look at and tasted even better. And if you're feeling adventurous, their Dragon Rolls are definitely hefty, requiring a good two bites per piece, and you can even request soy seaweed wraps for a different twist, like with their tuna roll. But let's talk about the mains, especially their ramen. The Super Bowl Ramen is a feast in itself! It comes with three types of meat, and their chashu is charred to perfection, adding a smoky depth to the broth. The noodles are wonderfully chewy, and the marinated egg is just divine. They really mean it when they say you never leave Godaiko hungry – the portion sizes are incredibly generous. And finally, the dish that truly sets Godaiko apart: their Flying Noodles. This dish has such a heartwarming story behind it, inspired by the owner's daughter who created a similar dish on MasterChef Junior! It features succulent lobster tail meat with delicious yakisoba, presented in a gravity-defying way. It's not just a meal; it's an experience and a testament to their innovative spirit. I can confidently say it's one of the best yakisoba dishes I've ever had. If you haven't been to Godaiko, make sure you check them out! From their fresh sushi and sashimi to their hearty ramen and unique fusion dishes, their menu offers something for everyone. It's a fantastic spot for a delicious Japanese meal in Ann Arbor.
