New Artificer Unearthed Arcana
Check out this series about my review of the new Unearthed Arcana for the Artificer! #dnd #dnd5e #unearthedarcana #ttrpg #artificer
Okay, fellow D&D enthusiasts, I know we're all buzzing about the latest Artificer Unearthed Arcana, and I just had to share some extra thoughts beyond the initial review! This UA really shakes things up, especially for those of us who love tinkering with our characters. It feels like they're trying to give Artificers even more distinct flavors, which is super exciting for new build ideas. First off, let’s talk about the Alchemist. The changes to the Experimental Elixir are a huge topic! I've been running an Alchemist for a while, and the idea of picking your own elixir type right from the start is a massive quality-of-life improvement. No more random rolls that leave you with something you don't need in a pinch! The OCR mentioned "OWN ELIXIR" and that "MASTERY REPLACES GREATER RESTORATION AND HEAL" with "Tasha's Bubbling." This really redefines how the Alchemist supports the party. It feels like a move towards more proactive battlefield control and less reactive healing, which could be a fun tactical shift. I'm keen to experiment with different elixirs and see how they synergize with party compositions. The "Chemical Resistance" mentioned in the OCR also sounds like a neat defensive buff, especially against common damage types like Acid, Fire, Necrotic, or Poison. It’s all about making those potions feel more impactful and consistent. Then there's the Armorer, which got some seriously cool updates. The new Dreadnaught armor type, which the OCR highlights as a "JUGGERNAUT," sounds like an absolute blast to play! Imagine becoming a "towering juggernaut" on the front line. The idea of getting a "FLAIL THAT DOES" damage and having "GIANT STATURE WHICH INCREASES YOUR SIZE" and "INCREASES YOUR RANGE OF MELEE ATTACKS BY FIVE FEET" is just incredible for a tanky build. This isn't just about being tough; it's about controlling the battlefield with that extended reach. I can already picture my character wading into combat, pushing enemies around with that new flail. The Eldritch Cannon also seems to have gotten some tweaks, and it’s always a reliable friend for some extra damage or utility. For those who prefer a stealthier approach, the Infiltrator still sounds like a solid choice, but the Dreadnaught really steals the show for me in this UA. I’m also keeping an eye on how spells like Vitriolic Sphere could integrate with these new Artificer options. While the OCR primarily focuses on subclass features, any Artificer spell that deals acid, fire, necrotic, or poison damage gets a boost from certain features, making offensive spellcasting more appealing. It's all about finding those synergies! Overall, this Artificer Unearthed Arcana feels like a significant step towards refining the class. Whether you're an Alchemist brewing up tactical elixirs or an Armorer transforming into an unstoppable force, there's a lot to dig into. I’m really looking forward to seeing how these changes evolve and what kind of amazing builds the community comes up with. It makes me want to start a new campaign just to try these out!
