Some of us had to work today. Ugh.

I've been there myself, struggling with the 'ugh' feeling of missing out. What helped me was shifting my perspective and finding small ways to make those working days more bearable and even enjoyable. One strategy I use is setting mini-goals throughout the day to create a sense of accomplishment. Even simple tasks, when completed, give me a boost and reduce feelings of monotony. I also make sure to take short breaks to step outside or engage in quick stretches to re-energize myself. Another helpful approach is planning a rewarding activity after work, something I look forward to, such as grabbing a favorite snack, watching a show, or connecting with friends. This creates a positive horizon in the day and makes working during off-times less tedious. Lastly, practicing gratitude by reflecting on what my work enables me to do—like supporting my lifestyle or personal goals—helps me stay motivated. While it’s not always easy to work when you’d rather be resting, these small mental shifts and habits have helped me cultivate resilience and keep a healthier work-life balance.
