✨Real Life vs. Social Media ✨
Don’t let social media fool you into thinking everything and everyone looks their best and lives a perfect life. Social media is fake and everyone will always post the best parts of them selves and their lives before the real and raw footage. Use this photo as confidence to still love yourself without the makeup and without the filters. I would go outside looking like the left before I would go out as the right any day. But I still really enjoy making myself up and feeling even more beautiful with some new makeup or a new lash. Just always love yourself natural first and love the rest second! #unfiltered #lemon8challenge
It's easy to get caught up in the endless scroll of perfectly curated feeds, isn't it? We see what social media sees – flawless skin, designer outfits, and seemingly perfect lives. But what about the raw/before moments, the cozy mornings, or the days we simply choose comfort over a posed expression? The truth is, the gap between social media and reality is often vast, and it's a topic that constantly comes up when we talk about influencer vs real life. I've been on my own journey of understanding that social media vs real life isn't a competition we need to win. Those images we see of styled hair and full makeup are often just a tiny, polished fraction of someone's day. It's not about shaming anyone for enjoying makeup or filters, but it's crucial to remember that our own natural appearance is inherently beautiful and worthy of love. I used to compare myself constantly, feeling like I needed to look a certain way to be accepted or to feel good about myself. It took a lot of introspection to realize that this constant comparison was actually stealing my joy and impacting my self-esteem. One of the biggest lessons I've learned is to distinguish between inspiration and comparison. It's okay to be inspired by someone's creativity or style, but when that inspiration turns into feeling inadequate, it's time to re-evaluate. I've started consciously unfollowing accounts that make me feel less-than, and instead, I seek out creators who champion authenticity and body positivity. This shift has been incredibly liberating, allowing me to appreciate my own unique qualities rather than chasing an unrealistic ideal of what social media sees. Embracing your unfiltered self isn't always easy, especially when the world seems to value perfection. But there's a unique confidence that comes from truly accepting who you are, freckles and all. It’s about understanding that the raw/before you is just as magnificent, if not more so, than any filtered version. My advice? Spend time connecting with the real you, away from the screens. Go for a walk without worrying about full makeup, embrace your bed head, and find joy in simple moments. This doesn't mean you can't enjoy getting ready or experimenting with styled hair and makeup – I certainly do! It just means that your self-worth isn't dependent on those things. Your natural appearance is your truest form, and it deserves all the love and appreciation you can give it. Let's all strive for a world where we celebrate our real, authentic selves, beyond any posed expression or digital enhancement.
