Continuing on my career exploration journey, I've been thinking so much about how diverse the world of work really is! When I first saw that list of 98 careers, it really opened my eyes. It's easy to get stuck thinking about just a few common paths, but there are so many unique ways to make a living and make an impact. For me, my passion for my natural hair and my dreadlocks has always been a central part of my identity, and I've often wondered how that could translate into a fulfilling career path. Sometimes, the most unexpected fields can lead to incredible opportunities. For instance, I remember seeing 'Chemist' at number 51 on that list and thinking, 'Wow, that's not what I originally envisioned!' But then I started to consider how chemistry plays a role in everything, even in developing amazing natural hair products or understanding the environmental impact of things we use every day. It makes me wonder about fields like agricultural chemistry (maybe something like 'agrochemistry'?) and how important it is to ensure sustainable practices, especially in places like Jamaica where our natural resources are so precious. Could my passion for natural living extend to understanding plant science or product development in a way that benefits my community? It's all part of the continuous learning and growth. And then there are careers that require incredible attention to detail. While 'audit log' might sound really technical, it makes me think about how crucial it is to track and understand information, whether it's managing a small business or ensuring processes are transparent. Every career, no matter how specific, has a core skill set that's transferable. Maybe it’s not about becoming a literal 'auditor' for me, but about applying a meticulous approach to, say, managing a natural hair product line, ensuring quality control, or even tracking the impact of community projects. It just shows how diverse skills are needed across all sectors. My personal journey continues, and it's less about ticking off a specific job title and more about finding where my skills, values, and passions truly align. Whether it's directly related to my natural hair community or a field I'm still exploring, the goal is always to find joy and purpose. What's your "Plan 51"?
