While I was getting my bachelor’s degree, I would study for about five hours a day. But now, during my master’s, it has turned into full-day study sessions. On my days off, I can spend anywhere from 8 to 14 hours studying each day 🫠. It’s a lot of time to be sitting at my little desk, so I try to take short breaks when I can… I walk around the house, put away some laundry, clean the kitchen, or make myself a snack. These moments help me reset, refocus, and get ready for the next task 📖
However, studying this much exhausting and it leaves me with a sore neck, tired eyes, and a drained mind. But I’m grateful and blessed to have a supportive husband and some very cute dogs that give me the love and comfort I need to keep going and feel proud of all the hard work I’m doing 🌻#mswstudent #longstudydays #firstgeneration#mentalhealthmatters
Studying for long hours, especially during intense programs like a master’s degree, can be quite challenging. It's important to find balance and take care of one's mental health while pushing through study sessions. Short breaks are essential; they help to maintain concentration and vitality. Instead of continuous study, consider work techniques like Pomodoro, where periods of studying are interspersed with quick breaks. Your physical surroundings can also impact focus. A clean workspace, perhaps with some personal touches like photos or plants, can help create a motivating environment. Eating healthy snacks and staying hydrated can significantly affect your energy levels as well. Furthermore, implementing relaxation techniques—such as deep breathing exercises or meditative practices during breaks—can enhance cognitive function and mood. Connecting with peers through study groups can also provide motivation and new insights, transforming lonely study hours into productive collaborations. Remember, it’s essential to recognize signs of burnout and fatigue, allowing for downtime when needed. Engaging in pet therapy or spending time with loved ones can help refresh your mind and spirit. Ultimately, balance, self-care, and effective study strategies are key to thriving academically.
