Which riven to keep
Navigating the world of Warframe rivens can feel like a game in itself, right? I remember staring at my inventory, wondering "Which riven to keep?" It's a common dilemma for every Tenno! My goal here is to share my personal insights and strategies for sifting through those mysterious #Warframe mods to decide what's truly worth keeping. One of the biggest factors is a weapon's 'riven disposition.' This often misunderstood mechanic determines how powerful your riven's stats will be. Weapons with lower usage tend to have higher dispositions, meaning their rivens can roll with incredibly strong stats. For example, finding a good riven for a weapon with a high disposition can completely transform it, making it viable even in Steel Path! I always check the disposition before investing too many Kuva into a reroll. A great riven on a high disposition weapon can outperform even some of the 'best rivens' for popular weapons that have been nerfed with low dispositions. When it comes to stats, what are we looking for? Generally, critical chance, critical damage, multishot, and raw damage are kings. Elemental combos are also crucial; for instance, a riven adding something like Virulent Scourge (a common elemental mod for status) can be fantastic if it combines with other elements to form a powerful corrosive or viral build. If you find a riven for a melee weapon like Hate (the scythe), you'd ideally want stats that boost its crit or range, maybe even pairing it with a Reaping Spiral stance or considering range mods like Opportunity's Reach or Primed Reach. The key is synergy. Your riven should enhance your build, not just add random stats. Think about how it fits with mods like Blood Rush and Sacrificial Steel for melee, or Primed Pressure and Sacrificial Pressure for base damage. Even utility mods like Healing Return or special ones like Amalgam mods can be part of unique builds where a specific riven might shine. The eternal question: reroll or sell? I usually set a personal limit on rolls. If after 10-15 rolls I haven't seen anything promising, especially if the weapon's disposition isn't stellar, I might consider selling it (even unrolled) or transmuting it. There's no point in burning through all your Kuva for a mediocre result. Sometimes, even a not-so-perfect riven for a popular weapon can fetch a good price, letting you fund more rolls for a weapon you truly love. And don't forget about Galvanized mods, which have changed the game for primary and secondary weapons. Your rivens should ideally complement these powerful new additions, not compete with them. Keep an eye out for negative stats too. A harmless negative, like '-zoom' on a melee weapon, is a dream. But '-damage to Grineer' for an anti-Grineer build is a nightmare! I've seen rivens with Hate Crita-visitis (referring to a crit-focused Hate riven) that had amazing crit stats but a terrible negative. It's all about balance. Remember, while Primed Heavy attack mods or Primed Fury for attack speed are great, a good riven can often push your weapon beyond what these standard mods alone can do. Even understanding how Focus Radon (or related Focus schools like ZENURIK) can impact your energy economy might steer you towards specific weapon types that benefit more from a powerful riven or elemental mods like Burning Hate or Primed Smite Corpus for faction-specific damage. Ultimately, the 'best' riven is often subjective and depends on your playstyle and what you find fun. Don't be afraid to experiment, but also don't be afraid to let go of a sub-par riven. Happy rolling, Tenno!
