I honestly cannot even say the exact month of when I started the journey. I do know the medications I was on for Depression, Mood Stabilizers, and Endometriosis all have played a huge factor into my weight increase by 106lbs. I have officially met my goal for April, set an overall goal for August! Officially being down 56lbs! Need to start toning and building muscle more! All in due time, just need to keep the determination up!

... Read moreIt's incredible to hear about your journey, and I can totally relate to how challenging weight loss can be, especially when medications play a role. Many women, myself included, have experienced weight fluctuations due to health conditions like endometriosis or managing mental health with different prescriptions. It's not just about willpower; sometimes, our bodies are working against us, and understanding that is the first step.
One thing I've found incredibly helpful is to really lean into understanding my body's unique needs. When dealing with medication-induced weight gain, it’s not always as simple as 'eat less, move more.' It often requires a more nuanced approach, working closely with your doctor or a dietitian who understands how different medications can impact metabolism, appetite, and even water retention. I remember feeling so frustrated, thinking I was doing everything right, but the scale just wouldn't budge. It turned out, for me, focusing on anti-inflammatory foods and gentle movement made a huge difference, rather than pushing myself too hard.
Setting realistic goals, just like you've done with your April and August targets, is absolutely crucial. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the big picture, but breaking it down into smaller, achievable milestones can keep motivation high. And don't underestimate the power of tracking your progress beyond just the numbers on the scale! Taking 'before and after' photos, even if they're just for your eyes, can be a game-changer. I started taking monthly photos, and seeing those subtle changes in my body composition, alongside tracking my energy levels and how my clothes fit, truly reinforced that my efforts were paying off. It's a fantastic visual reminder of how far you've come and keeps you focused on your next steps, like toning and building muscle.
When it comes to nutrition, I've learned that consistency triumphs over perfection. Instead of drastic, short-term diets, focusing on sustainable changes has been key for me. This often means prioritizing whole, unprocessed foods, ample protein to support muscle growth, and plenty of fiber to keep you feeling full and satisfied. Hydration is another unsung hero – sometimes what feels like hunger is actually just thirst! And remember, it's about finding what works for your body and lifestyle, not necessarily following the latest trend. For women, especially, our hormonal cycles can impact our energy and cravings, so listening to those cues is vital.
Finally, don't forget the mental aspect of this journey. Weight loss can be emotionally taxing. Celebrating every victory, no matter how small, and being kind to yourself on days when things feel tough, is just as important as hitting your physical goals. Your dedication to continue toning and building muscle is inspiring – that shift from purely weight loss to body recomposition is a powerful one. Keep that determination up, and remember, every step forward, no matter how small, is progress!
