... Read moreHey everyone! Following up on my post about embracing our true selves, I wanted to dive a little deeper into how we can cultivate that self-love every day. It's one thing to say 'you're beautiful,' but another to truly believe it, especially when scrolling through perfectly curated feeds or looking at our own 'unfiltered' selfies. For a long time, I struggled with showing my real emotions online. I'd delete any mirror selfie where I didn't look 'perfect' or wouldn't dare post a picture if I had smudged mascara after a good cry. But I realized that those moments, whether I was laughing heartily with my mouth wide open (braces and all!) or just being silly, are part of what makes me *me*. And you know what? Those are often the pictures that resonate most with people. They show *life*. So, how do we get there? Here are a few things that have really helped me on my journey: 1. Practice Mindful Mirror Time: Instead of picking apart your reflection, try looking at yourself with kindness. Acknowledge your features, even the ones you used to criticize. When you take a selfie, especially a close-up like the ones I share, focus on capturing a feeling, not just an aesthetic. I've found that when I'm truly feeling joyful, even my laugh lines (or braces!) become part of that genuine expression. 2. Embrace the 'Messy' Moments: Life isn't always picture-perfect, and neither are we. I've learned that sometimes, a picture showing me after a tough day, maybe with tired eyes, is just as beautiful as one where I'm all dolled up. It's about honesty and authenticity. Don't be afraid to share your 'raw' moments – they're part of your story. 3. Curate Your Feed for Positivity: If certain accounts make you feel less-than, unfollow them! Fill your feed with people who inspire self-love and body positivity. It's a game-changer for your mindset. Remember, your social media is your space. 4. Journal Your Gratitude & Strengths: Whenever I feel self-doubt creeping in, I write down three things I love about myself or three things I'm grateful for that day. It shifts my focus from perceived flaws to genuine strengths and blessings. This really helps when I'm feeling less confident in front of the camera. 5. Connect with Your Community: Share your experiences! Knowing that others struggle with similar insecurities, or celebrate their own unique beauty, creates a powerful sense of connection. That's why I love sharing my mirror selfies and the moments where I'm just being me – it creates a space for all of us to be real. Remember, true beauty shines from within. It's in your kindness, your resilience, your laughter, and even your tears. Let's continue to cheer each other on in this beautiful journey of self-acceptance. You are amazing, just the way you are!
