Tattoo artist interview

... Read moreFrom my personal journey in tattooing, I've found that mastering color tattoos requires more than just skill—it demands patience and a deep understanding of how colors interact with different skin tones. Color packing, which involves saturating the skin to ensure vibrant ink retention, is especially tricky. If the color isn't packed correctly, you end up with patchy spots or 'holidays' where the skin peeks through. This is why every session must be customized, paying close attention to the individual's skin type and tone. Moreover, I have come to appreciate how diverse tattooing styles demand unique approaches. For example, black and gray tattoos usually heal differently and have a distinct texture compared to colorful designs. On the flip side, styles inspired by paintings or Disney characters require precision and careful color layering to achieve the desired effect. Working on skin as a canvas compared to traditional art surfaces challenges you to constantly adapt and learn. One tip I always share with newcomers is to embrace the learning curve. Even after years of experience, I'm still refining my techniques to better handle color saturation and healing processes. Every tattoo teaches something new, whether it's how a particular shade fades or how different skin reacts to ink. In addition to technical skills, communication with clients plays a critical role. Understanding their vision and explaining how their tattoo will heal and age can significantly improve satisfaction. Tattoos aren't just art—they're deeply personal stories etched on the skin, and respecting that makes all the difference.
