What I pack in my carry-on bag for long flights
Long flights can be really hard! So today I’m sharing a few things I put into my carry-on bags for long flights to ensure an easier ride.
Why should you trust me? I’ve traveled to 75 countries and work full time creating travel content.
So lets dive in:
- Wired headphones: yes there are gadgets to connect your AirPods (but they don’t always work), yes some airlines pass out headphones for free, but it is always better to be safe than sorry! Remember, you’ll want the traditional wired headphones to connect to the airline entertainment.
- Eye mask: I’ve been on one too many flights where they keep the lights on allll night long.
- Snacks: I love having some of my own snacks on the plane because there is nothing worse than being hungry on a long flight.
- Reusable water bottle: I love to pack an empty water bottle and fill it up at the airport before I board. Even better, add some electrolytes like Nuun or DripDrop.
When it comes to long-haul travel, packing the right items in your carry-on bag can dramatically influence how enjoyable your flight is. Beyond the basic necessities, consider including a neck pillow to support comfortable sleep during your journey. A travel blanket can also add a layer of warmth, especially on chilly flights. Additionally, a portable charger ensures that your devices remain powered throughout the trip, allowing you to enjoy in-flight entertainment without worry. For those who struggle with jet lag, packing some light reading, like a novel or a magazine, can help distract and relax you during the flight. Don't forget to include a travel-sized toiletry kit; items like face wipes, moisturizer, and lip balm will help you feel refreshed upon arrival. Investing in a good travel organizer can also keep your essentials neatly in place, ensuring easy access to everything you need throughout the flight. Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of entertainment—download movies, music, or podcasts to keep yourself entertained. With the right preparation, long flights can feel less daunting and more enjoyable, setting the tone for a wonderful travel experience.
