PRISON WIFE LIFE- To Just a wife 🥰
Time served 🙌🏼 only did 7/14 ❤️❤️❤️
When I wrote 'Time served 🙌🏼 only did 7/14 ❤️❤️❤️', it was a moment of pure relief and joy. But what those few words don't capture is the incredible, often grueling, journey behind them. The OCR from one of my images perfectly sums it up: '14 year sentence felt like a life time...but we made it.' And truly, it did. Every single day of those fourteen years demanded strength I didn't always know I had, but looking back, I'm so proud that we made it through. Being a 'prison wife' is a chapter in life that few truly understand. It’s not just about waiting; it's about actively fighting for your relationship, your family, and your sanity against odds that often feel insurmountable. The loneliness can be crushing, especially on holidays or when you see other couples enjoying simple moments. There’s the constant worry, the financial strain, and the judgment from some who don't grasp the depth of your commitment. You learn to navigate complex visitation rules, expensive phone calls, and the endless paperwork. For years, my life revolved around those precious few hours of visits, trying to keep our connection alive, to remind us both of the future we were building. One of the biggest challenges was keeping hope alive for a full *14 year sentence*. There were days I wanted to give up, days I cried myself to sleep, feeling completely isolated. But I found strength in unexpected places – online support groups of other prison wives, understanding friends, and the unwavering bond I shared with my partner. We learned to communicate deeply, to truly listen to each other through letters and calls. We had to trust each other implicitly, even when miles and prison walls separated us. Self-care became non-negotiable; I realized I couldn't be strong for him if I wasn't strong for myself first. That meant finding hobbies, spending time with loved ones, and allowing myself to feel all the emotions, good and bad. Reaching the end of that 14 year sentence felt surreal. The moment I could finally say 'time served' wasn't just a celebration of his freedom, but a celebration of our endurance. It was proof that love can truly conquer all, even the longest, darkest periods. It wasn't the end of the journey, but the beginning of a new one – one where we could finally build our life together, without the constant shadow of incarceration. If you're reading this as a fellow 'prison wife' or someone supporting a loved one behind bars, please know this: you are stronger than you think. Find your community, lean on your support system, and never lose sight of the future you're fighting for. It truly does feel like a lifetime, but if we made it, so can you. The journey is tough, but the reward of finally being together, of finally saying 'we made it,' is absolutely priceless. Keep fighting, keep hoping, and keep believing in your love story.
