Black history!!!

The original model of the Statue of Liberty had an African American face that was Given to us by France to pay homage to the slaves whom were brought here by force. The original was refused by America, But was Europeanized because the people of the United States did not want a African American face sitting up there on the harbor so they carved it out in France they had to go back to the drawing board and remodeled the face after patron saint of manifest destiny . This statue was made in 1848, and was from Gold Coast . not everyone knows this because we weren't taught this in school intact the only statue most know is the newer version of the Statue of Liberty. When the French artist created the statue of Liberty it was suppose to represent the end of slavery . On the original model there were chains on the hands and feet as we know. When the statue got to America they wanted to erase ANY references of slavery from the statue but the artists really thought to keep the chains on there .. so not only have they been trying to get of us slowly we can't even have a statue for OURSELVES because they feel the need to take everything we have…. and all because they think they have the "power" to do so they do it when they do not. #blackhistory #history #february #blackisbeautiful #pride

... Read moreThe Statue of Liberty symbolizes freedom and hope, yet its original design reflects a deeper and often overlooked narrative. Created by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, the statue was intended to represent liberation from oppression. The original model featured African American elements and was meant to commemorate the abolition of slavery, complete with chains on the hands and feet. When it arrived in the United States, however, these elements were removed, reflecting societal attitudes of the time that sought to erase any references to African American heritage. This act of erasure underlines a broader historical narrative of marginalization and lack of representation. The statue's unveiling in 1886 occurred amidst the backdrop of ongoing racial injustices in America, highlighting the contradictions between American ideals of freedom and the reality faced by many African Americans. Recognizing this history not only honors those who fought for equality but also invites contemporary discussions on representation and acknowledgment of marginalized communities. Such stories are essential to understand the complexities of American history and the ongoing struggle for equity in representation. Engaging with this narrative enriches our understanding of why the Statue of Liberty isn't just a monument; it serves as a reminder of the continuous fight against oppression and the importance of ensuring every voice is heard and acknowledged in the fabric of American society.

There are broken chains on the Statue of Liberty feet. They are barely visible from the ground because of her robes. They call it an hidden feature. The Statue of Liberty originally celebrated American independence and the end of slavery. The bronze plaque with Emma Lazarus's famous poem, "The New Colossus," was added to 1903 which connected the statue to immigration.
