brown butter banana bread!

we had some bananas getting just right for banana bread… so guess what I did… I MADE THE BANANA BREAD!👏🏻

I tried a new recipe for banana bread tonight, which happened to be using browned butter vs regular butter🧐

Let me just say.. WOW!!😋 the BEST I’ve made so far!!

Recipe: (I did get this recipe off of Pinterest, it is NOT mine)

3 medium ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, browned

3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar

1 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs, room temperature

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/2 cup (60g) chopped pecans/walnuts

1. Brown the butter

2. Preheat oven to 350

3. Mash bananas, then mix in sugar (I add brown sugar in this part, also)

4. Beat in eggs, one at a time

5. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt. Gently fold into wet ingredients. Do not over mix

6. Fold in nuts and chocolate chips

7. Pour batter into greased pans

8. Place in the oven for 50-55 minutes, my oven tends to cook very fast, so I normally cut down the time by 10 minutes

AND YOURE DONE! 🍾👏🏻

... Read moreI've tried many banana bread recipes over the years, but using browned butter truly transforms the flavor. The nutty aroma and deeper taste from browning the butter add a warm richness that's hard to beat. One tip I’ve learned is to watch the butter carefully as it melts and cooks – it can quickly go from browned to burnt if you’re not paying attention. When making banana bread, it's also important not to over-mix the batter. Over-mixing develops gluten in the flour, resulting in a tougher crumb instead of a tender, moist loaf. I gently fold the sifted flour mixture into the wet ingredients and stop as soon as it’s combined. Adding chopped pecans or walnuts gives a wonderful crunch and enhances the overall texture. I also recommend tossing in some chocolate chips for a sweet surprise in every slice. If you prefer a healthier option, you can reduce the sugar or substitute part of the flour with whole wheat. Baking times can vary depending on your oven and loaf pan size. Using a toothpick to test for doneness is always best; it should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs. Cooling the bread completely before slicing helps preserve its structure and flavor. Finally, serving slightly warm with a pat of butter or cream cheese is a simple way to elevate this classic treat. Whether for breakfast, dessert, or a snack, brown butter banana bread is comfort food at its finest. Give it a try—you might find it becomes your go-to recipe!
