Nostalgic Things I Am Making for my Magical Girl
We were given this 20 yr old playhouse and I couldn’t be more excited to turn it into a cozy little cottage for my baby girl!
We are keeping the siding the same because it works well with colors I want for the door and roof. Have 1 flower box that looks very different from the render but also more budget friendly 🤣
Really excited for the first coats to cure so we can keep going!
There are tons of these on FB marketplace for about $40 some less!
To do something similar you just need spray paint that works on plastic #and dry days!

Turning an old playhouse into a magical space for a child is such a rewarding DIY project. When I found a 20-year-old playhouse for just about $40 on Facebook Marketplace, I immediately saw the potential to create a cozy, enchanting cottage for my daughter. One of the first things I learned was that preserving the original siding can save time and money while also providing a perfect base to complement new colors for the door and roof. Choosing spray paints specifically made for plastic was key to ensuring the paint adhered properly and lasted despite outdoor exposure. I recommend doing this kind of project on a dry day, with good ventilation, and allowing each coat to cure entirely before applying the next—patience pays off! To add a personal and nostalgic touch, I opted for a budget-friendly flower box that looks different from my initial render but adds charm and character. This little detail transformed the playhouse from just a structure to a storybook cottage, perfect for sparking a child’s imagination. If you’re considering a similar playhouse makeover, I encourage you to explore local marketplaces for affordable options. Often, parents outgrow these structures, and you can give a beloved item a new life with some creativity and effort. It’s amazing how a simple playhouse can become the setting for countless adventures and cherished memories. This project reminded me of the magic that comes from creating something special with your own hands—perfect for any child who dreams of fairy tales and magical worlds.
