That’s it

... Read moreOkay, so I finally decided to try the much-talked-about Turkey Sage Danish from Starbucks! You know those moments when you're craving something savory and comforting, a little deviation from the usual sweet treats? That's exactly how I felt. I’d seen it pop up on the menu and been curious, especially since it's often highlighted as a 'Warmed Item' – and trust me, that makes all the difference. I picked one up on a chilly morning, the perfect kind of day to indulge in something new and cozy from my local Starbucks. My first impression? The aroma alone was incredible. It wasn't just a generic pastry smell; it had that distinct, warm, herby scent of sage, perfectly mingling with something subtly savory. Visually, it's a beautiful pastry—golden brown, with a slightly flaky, almost shattery crust, looking perfectly baked with a generous filling peeking through. I was genuinely eager to dive in, and my expectations, which were already pretty high, were immediately met by the visual appeal. Taking that first bite, I was genuinely impressed by the execution. The pastry itself is wonderfully buttery and flaky, exactly what you’d expect from a good danish. It holds together well but still melts in your mouth. But the real star, without a doubt, is the filling. The turkey isn't just dry, shredded bits; it’s moist, tender, and incredibly flavorful, perfectly seasoned with that unmistakable, earthy sage. It’s not overly salty or greasy either, which can sometimes be an issue with savory pastries that aim for robust flavor. The sage really shines through, giving it a cozy, almost Thanksgiving-like essence without being too heavy or overwhelming. It definitely offers a sophisticated savory profile, elevating it beyond just a basic breakfast sandwich flavor. What surprised me most was how incredibly well-balanced it was. Sometimes savory pastries can be a bit one-note, but the delicate, almost imperceptible sweetness of the danish dough combined with the rich, herby turkey filling created a fantastic contrast of flavors and textures. I paired mine with a simple black coffee, and it was the ideal complement; the coffee cut through the richness of the pastry perfectly. It felt less like a grab-and-go item and more like a gourmet breakfast treat, something special to savor. I also think it would be amazing with a hot tea, like a Royal English Breakfast, or even a classic latte for an extra cozy experience. I’d definitely recommend having it warmed, just like the label suggests. It truly brings out the savory notes of the turkey and sage, and makes the pastry even flakier and more enjoyable. It's substantial enough to be a light but satisfying breakfast or a hearty mid-morning snack. If you’re usually a fan of their sweet pastries but looking to explore something different, or if you just love savory breakfast items, this is absolutely worth trying. It's a comforting food experience that genuinely hits the spot. Is it a regular for me now? Absolutely! It’s quickly become one of my go-to items when I want something a bit more unique and hearty than a plain croissant or muffin. It truly feels like a special seasonal offering, something to look forward to when it's available. For anyone searching for a delicious, savory treat at Starbucks, especially if you enjoy classic holiday-inspired flavors, don't walk, run to try the Turkey Sage Danish! You won't regret adding this warm, savory delight to your next Starbucks order. It’s a perfect example of how Starbucks can elevate a classic pastry into something truly memorable.
