It's a game-changer when you can keep your favorite white Hoka Clifton 9s looking fresh! While my washing machine method is great, some extra tips can make the process even more effective and tackle common shoe woes. Let's dive deeper into some considerations to ensure your white running shoes stay pristine and odor-free. Pre-Treatment: Your First Line of Defense! Before washing your *dirty white running shoes*, a little pre-work helps immensely. Use an old toothbrush or damp cloth to scrape off loose mud or debris. For stubborn marks, I pre-treat using a small amount of the OxiClean cleaning powder mixture (OxiClean, *dye and scent-free laundry detergent*, and a drop of dish soap with water) directly on the stain. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing or washing. This lifts embedded grime, making the machine's job much easier. Tackling Pesky Yellowing (and keeping it away!) One frustrating issue is when hoka girls shoes turned yellow (or any white sneakers!). This can happen from sun exposure, sweat, or residual detergent. My washing method, with OxiClean powder and *distilled white vinegar*, is designed to combat this. OxiClean brightens, and vinegar breaks down mineral deposits. When *drying in the sun*, use indirect sunlight or rotate them to prevent uneven drying or intense UV exposure. For existing yellowing, an OxiClean paste applied directly, left for a few hours, then washed, often works wonders. The Secret to Pristine Laces: Soak Them Right! Don't just wash your white shoelaces with the shoes! Separating them and letting them soak thoroughly in a foamy liquid mixture of OxiClean, detergent, and water is crucial. I let them sit while the shoes are in the washer. Agitate them occasionally. You might need to *rinse out laces and resoak as many times as needed to remove stains*, especially if they're heavily soiled. This dedicated soaking ensures your laces match the cleanliness of your sparkling sneakers. Washing Machine Wisdom for Longevity When placing your two white sneakers (laces removed!) into the washing machine drum, I always recommend a mesh laundry bag. This protects your shoes from banging around and your machine. Stick to a delicate cycle with cold water and a *medium spin*. Hot water can degrade shoe adhesives, and a high spin can stress the structure. Gentle but effective is the goal to prolong your Hokas' life. The Art of Air Drying: Patience Pays Off After the wash, resist machine-drying! Air drying is best. Drying in the sun completely is fantastic for boosting whiteness, as the sun acts as a natural bleach. Just ensure they are in a well-ventilated area and not under scorching sun for too long, which can damage materials. It’s vital that your shoes are finished after 24 hours or completely dry inside and out before re-lacing. Any dampness leads to mildew and odors! Bonus Tip: How to Get Odor Out of Hoka Shoes! Even clean shoes can get smelly, especially active ones like Hokas. Sweat and bacteria build up. Here are my favorite tricks: Baking Soda Power: Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda inside your dry shoes overnight. It's a natural odor absorber. Proper Airing: After every use, remove insoles (if possible) and let your shoes air out completely before storing. Wash Insoles Separately: Hand washing removable insoles with detergent and air drying them can significantly reduce overall shoe odor. By adding these steps to your routine, you'll keep your white Hoka Clifton 9s *sparkling clean*, extend their lifespan, and ensure they're always ready for your next adventure, free from unsightly stains and unpleasant smells!
