Having someone else take care of your baby, especially your partner, can be both a relief and a source of anxiety if you struggle with trust and OCD tendencies. From my own experience, even when I know logically that my husband is capable and caring, there’s a part of me that constantly worries about every little detail—whether he's doing it exactly how I would, or if the baby is perfectly comfortable and safe. What helped me over time was finding small ways to create a sense of reassurance without micromanaging. For example, establishing a simple routine or checklist for baby care tasks that my husband could follow helped ease my mind. This way, I knew the essentials were covered, and I could slowly learn to let go of excessive control. Another important step is communication. Talking openly about my feelings and concerns allows my husband to understand my OCD tendencies without judgment. He can then support me better and build my confidence in his caregiving abilities. Trust doesn’t have to be all or nothing; it’s a process that grows gradually. Taking time for myself while he holds the baby was initially challenging because I couldn’t fully relax, fearing something might go wrong. But giving myself permission to rest, even if it was just for a few minutes, helped me recharge and feel more patient overall.
