techmas day 21: tech wants vs needs 🎄📱

there are always things we think we absolutely need so we get it and things we ACTUALLY use on a nearly daily basis.

here are a few of those things for me. don't get me wrong, i love all of my tech items, but i just don't use them as often as i thought i would.

the ones with use everyday are literal life savers!! and if i can, let me be the first to influence you to swap out your bedroom tv for a projector 👀 it totally makes a world of a difference!

what are some items you thought you needed, but didn't end up using as much as predicted?

But after really looking at what makes a difference in my day-to-day, I've realized that truly essential tech isn't about having the most expensive or newest item; it's about what genuinely streamlines your life and brings you joy. When you're trying to figure out your own 'must-have tech products for everyday life,' start by observing your daily routines. What tasks do you do most often? What frustrates you? For instance, if you're like me and love unwinding with a good movie or show, a projector can totally transform your living space into a personal cinema – far more immersive than a traditional TV, and often more flexible. My Fire TV stick paired with it makes streaming a breeze. For productivity and staying connected, my MacBook and iPhone are non-negotiable. They're my command centers for work, communication, and creative projects. And for those moments when I need to focus or just escape into music, my white headphones are always within reach. Good quality audio tech is an absolute game-changer for concentration and relaxation. But what about the tech we think we need but don't use much? For me, a dedicated high-end camera, while amazing, doesn't get daily use because my iPhone camera is so good for everyday snaps. An iPad is fantastic, but my MacBook often covers those needs, making the iPad less 'essential' for my daily flow, though perfect for others! And while my Nintendo Switch provides endless fun, it’s not a daily ‘essential’ in the same way my work tools are. One piece of tech that consistently proves its worth for me is my Kindle. Being able to carry an entire library in one slim device means I'm always ready to read, whether I'm waiting for an appointment or winding down before bed. It's truly a 'must-have' for any book lover. Similarly, an Apple Watch can be incredibly useful for health tracking and quick notifications, keeping your phone tucked away. Think about the smaller things too. A good power bank, reliable Wi-Fi, and even simple cable organizers can make a huge difference in reducing daily tech frustrations. When evaluating new purchases, ask yourself: 'Will this genuinely make my everyday life easier, more efficient, or bring me consistent enjoyment?' If the answer is a resounding yes, then it might just be your next essential piece of tech. Don't fall for the trap of buying for the sake of buying; invest in tools that truly serve your lifestyle.
