I changed my viewpoint on getting skinny to getting healthier for my kids because I’m 31 with 5 kids and after staying up till midnight venting to my husband about how I wish our kids had a better village , I know I need to be that village and I need to be that village for their kids. We need to be that village. So I need to stay healthy to make sure I’m here to help them raise happy healthy lives #sahm #momoffive #postpartum

The idea of being there for my kids—not just physically but emotionally and mentally—fuels my motivation every day. Parenting can be overwhelming, especially when you feel like the support system around you is lacking. But I’ve learned that I can be that village my children need and deserve. This lifestyle change isn't just about diet or exercise; it's about a holistic approach to wellness that encompasses mental health, rest, and being present. For instance, after sleepless nights spent talking with my husband, I understood how important it is that I’m healthy enough to support my children long-term. Taking care of myself means I can engage fully in their lives, celebrate their milestones, and help guide them through challenges. I’ve also embraced that postpartum health journeys differ for every mom. For some of us, especially stay-at-home moms managing multiple kids, it’s easy to put personal care last. But prioritizing health sets a powerful example for my children about self-love and resilience. My promise to them—like the message in the image that says, "If you call mama asking for my help, I WILL be there"—is a commitment rooted in being physically and emotionally strong for them. Incorporating small, sustainable habits keeps my health on track: balanced meals, regular physical activity tailored to what fits my busy mom schedule, and mental breaks where I can recharge. I also connect with communities online or in person using hashtags like #sahm and #postpartum to share the struggles and victories of motherhood. Ultimately, being part of my children's village means creating a foundation of health and love they can rely on as they grow. This perspective shift has made all the difference in how I view wellness—not as a temporary goal but as a lifelong promise to myself and my family.
