Starting law school later than most and managing life responsibilities can truly test your resolve. I faced similar challenges, working a full-time job during my first semester and commuting two hours daily. Despite these hurdles, I graduated the semester with a 3.3 GPA, ranking in the top 22% of my class. These experiences taught me the importance of discipline and time management. Balancing academics with leadership roles like being voted vice president of the Black Law Students Association and serving as secretary and representative for important student and bar associations helped me build a strong network, which is crucial in law careers. I also became a teaching assistant for Torts and Mastering Legal Education, which reinforced my understanding of essential legal concepts. A paid summer internship focusing on toxic torts gave me valuable real-world experience that complemented my classroom learning. My journey proves it's never too late to pursue your passion, and performing well academically while staying involved outside the classroom is possible with the right mindset and support system.
