ACTS is SOOO good 🙌🏼✨
the more and more i read of acts!!!! i’m obsessed. from 120 to 5,000 in just 4 chapters.. the church exploded because they were filled with the Holy Spirit + bold in their faith 🙌🏼 Peter stood firm before the same leaders who crucified Jesus & STILL declared the gospel with no fear. he KNEW the healing came from Jesus & he wasn’t about to stay quiet 🔥 Lord, let me carry that kind of boldness too 💖💌💐✨ #biblestudy #biblenotes #biblejournaling #jesusgirl #biblenotes
Okay, friends, let's dive even deeper into why the Book of Acts, especially Acts 4, has completely captivated me! My personal Bible study notes on this chapter have really opened my eyes to the incredible power and spirit of the early church. What truly struck me in Acts 4, as I was highlighting and making my notes, was the sheer audacity and disciples' boldness of Peter and John. Here they were, having just performed a miracle healing at the Beautiful Gate, and suddenly they're being dragged before the very Jewish leadership who had condemned Jesus. Can you imagine the pressure? Yet, instead of cowering, Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, delivered an unapologetic bold declaration in Acts 4:8-12. He didn't just explain the healing; he unequivocally pointed to Jesus as the only way of salvation. He called Jesus the 'stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.' This is a huge theme in my Acts Bible study notes – the unwavering conviction of these early believers. The OCR results on my Bible pages clearly show how I focused on their response to opposition. It wasn't just Peter's words; it was the fact that the leaders recognized their courage and realized they had been with Jesus (Acts 4:13). This whole situation perfectly illustrates the increasing number of Christians despite opposition. The more they tried to suppress it, the more the message spread! Another powerful takeaway from this chapter for my journal was the community aspect. After their release, the disciples didn't just go back to business as usual. They gathered, shared their experience, and then, crucially, they prayed! Their prayer wasn't for safety or comfort, but for more boldness to continue speaking God's word (Acts 4:29). This is such a practical lesson for us: when faced with fear, we should pray for courage, not for the absence of challenges. And the result? The place they were meeting was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word with great boldness (Acts 4:31). My highlighted notes also touch on the profound unity and generosity of the early church described at the end of Acts 4. They were 'one in heart and mind,' and 'no one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.' This idea of sharing possessions was radical then, and it's still a challenge for us today. It wasn't forced communism; it was a natural outpouring of love and a recognition that everything belonged to God. It shows a truly Spirit-filled community. So, as you go through your own Acts Bible study notes, I encourage you to look at Acts 4 not just as a historical account, but as a blueprint for living a bold, Spirit-led, and community-focused life. The healing power of Jesus and the God's glorification through His disciples are incredible reminders that we, too, can stand firm, speak truth, and see His kingdom grow, even when faced with resistance. It's truly inspiring to see how their faith led to explosive church growth and countless lives changed.
