✨Getting back on track: One step at a time

Let’s be real.. weight loss isn’t just about food and workouts.

Life happens, and sometimes it knocks you off track.

💔 I recently lost my dad, and honestly… it threw me. I stopped focusing on myself, and that’s okay. I needed time to just be.

But now I’m getting back to it, not out of guilt, but out of love.

Because I know he’d want me to keep going. To keep becoming the best version of myself.

This time, I’m showing up for both of us. 🤍

Here’s what I’m focusing on:

💧 Staying hydrated

🥗 Fueling my body without restriction

🚶‍♀️ Moving every day, even if it’s just a short walk

🧠 Being gentle with myself and celebrating small wins

Progress isn’t about perfection. It’s about consistency, grace, and starting over when you need to.

If you’re on your own journey, especially after a tough season — I see you. You’re not alone.

We fall. We pause. But we keep going.

... Read moreRecovering from grief while pursuing weight loss requires a compassionate and holistic approach. The journey described highlights key habits that foster physical and emotional well-being. Staying hydrated is vital to support metabolic function and mental clarity during stressful times. Fueling the body without restriction helps maintain nutritional balance and avoids the trap of extreme dieting which can negatively impact mood and energy. Incorporating daily movement, even light activities like walking, has proven benefits for cardiovascular health and reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, which are common during grief. The goal of reaching 8,000 steps a day, as mentioned, aligns with general fitness guidelines promoting gradual and sustainable increases in activity. Mental self-care is equally important; celebrating small wins and practicing self-compassion counters negative self-talk and supports long-term progress. This mindset shift from perfection to consistency aligns well with behavior change science, increasing the likelihood of lasting habits. Engaging in social activities, such as the kitten yoga class and doing activities with friends, can provide emotional support and distraction, while also encouraging movement and joyful experiences. Pets like adopting Sardine can offer comfort and responsibility, boosting mental health during difficult times. Overall, this journey demonstrates how weight loss intertwined with healing from personal loss is not a linear process but one defined by grace, acceptance, and gradual improvement. Individuals embarking on a similar path are encouraged to focus on these core areas: hydration, balanced nutrition, gentle consistent activity, emotional self-care, and social connection as pillars to rebuild strength and vitality one day at a time.
