If you compare whether an application or a web is an "island," each separate island, an API is a "transport ship" or a bridge that allows those islands to deliver or talk to each other.

An API is a "connection channel" that allows one software to automatically retrieve or use the features of another without knowing how the code was written inside.
Imagine following (hit sample):
You go to order food at the store (you're User).
You order the menu through the Waiter (API).
The waiter told the system / server.
The machine room is finished. Send it to the waiter (API).
A waiter (API) raises food to serve you at the table.
✨ Why is the API so important?
You don't have to start from scratch: for example, if you want to make a web sale and want your customers to pay, you don't have to build your own banking system, just connect to the bank's API or the Payment Gateway.
Data Link: Allows us to log in to the web with Google or Facebook (via the identity verification API)
Real-time update: For example, a weather forecast app that retrieves data from the Uttar Department is shown on our screen immediately through the API.
