How To Work With Deities
Always make sure you do your research on the deity that you wish to work with, or the deity that has reached out to you. Always remember, you do not have to work with a deity that you do not want to, even if they are reaching out. It is not best to ignore them, simply light a white candle and speak into existence that you do not wish to work with them right now.
ALWAYS RESPECT DEITIES!!!!
1. Light a candle with the deities corresponding color, if the flame is tall and stable, this is a good sign if it is tall and dances this is a good sign. If the flame is small, looks weak, gives off smoke, or goes out this is not a good sign, and also means no.
2. If you want to practice with multiple deities, start with the one you are most drawn to or the one that has reached out that wants to work with you. As your relationship with that deity grows, you can incorporate another deity however make sure you make separate altars.
3. Dedicate time to your deity, light your candle, and say a prayer to them, talk to them, tell them about yourself, your day, family, create a type of friendship with them, but always remember that they are divine.
4. Light a candle and call on them, pay attention to your body, your senses, ask them questions, how do you feel after that, what does your gut say, these are a few ways that you will get immediate responses.
5. Before you ask the deity for help, you must build a relationship with them. They will not help you if you are selfish.
6. It is as simple as "Good Morning _____" and "Goodnight ______"
7. Leave offerings for them, do your research to see what they like or even ask them what they would like.
8. Make a journal to keep on your altar. In this journal, you can write poems for them. Prayers for them, hymns to them things that are related to the deity, for that deity.
To know if they responded, pay attention to your gut, pay attention to the way that you feel. Other signs that they have responded are; they will show up in dreams, déjà vu, repeating signs and symbols, see a flash image in your mind, shivers down your back, or feeling warm or feeling like you have been hugged.

Hey everyone! So, you've read about the basics of connecting with deities, which is awesome! I remember feeling a mix of excitement and a little bit of 'what now?' when I first started my journey. The tips in the main post are fantastic starting points, but I wanted to share a few more thoughts and practical insights that have really helped me on my path, especially when it comes to working with deities in a deeper, more personal way. First off, let's talk a bit more about choosing a deity or recognizing a call. Sometimes, a deity will make their presence known through recurring symbols, dreams, or a strong pull towards a specific pantheon or mythology. For me, it was a particular symbol that kept popping up everywhere! If you're not feeling a direct 'call,' that's totally okay. You can research deities whose domains align with your personal goals, values, or interests. Are you drawn to nature, creativity, protection, knowledge? Start there. Read myths, look at historical offerings, and see who resonates with your spirit. Don't rush this process; it's about finding a genuine connection. Once you feel that spark, deepening your connection goes beyond just daily greetings. While saying 'Good Morning' is a wonderful start, consider dedicating specific meditation time to them. You can visualize their presence, feel their energy, or even use guided meditations. Chanting their name or a relevant hymn can also be incredibly powerful. Think of it like any friendship – the more quality time and focused attention you give, the stronger the bond becomes. The main article mentions offerings, and this is such a rich area! Beyond corresponding colors and general preferences, don't be afraid to get creative and personal. Did you bake something? Offer a small portion. Did you create art? Show it to them. Sometimes, an offering isn't physical at all; it can be an act of service in their name, like volunteering for an environmental cause if you work with nature deities, or dedicating a creative project to a deity of the arts. Just remember to research historical and cultural practices, and always dispose of physical offerings respectfully, in a way that aligns with their domain (e.g., burying natural offerings, pouring liquid offerings onto the earth). What if you're trying, but you're not feeling a strong connection or receiving clear signs? This happens, and it's completely normal. Don't get discouraged! Re-evaluate your approach. Are you consistent? Are you truly open to receiving signs in various forms, not just the ones you expect? It might also be that this particular deity isn't the right fit for you right now, and that’s okay. You can respectfully communicate that you need space or wish to work with another deity for a while. Remember, it's a relationship, and both parties need to feel that connection. Finally, I want to emphasize setting healthy boundaries. Working with deities is about mutual respect and growth, not about being subservient or asking for endless favors without putting in the work yourself. They are divine, yes, but a true partnership involves your own effort and responsibility. Always trust your intuition; if something feels off, listen to that gut feeling. Your spiritual journey is yours, and it should empower you. I hope these extra insights help you on your exciting journey of *working with deities*! It's a path of continuous learning and profound connection.
