5 Things I changed to lose weight
Let’s talk real change. My weight loss journey hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been intentional. Here are the top 5 things I changed that made the biggest difference:
1. Daily Movement – No matter what, I committed to moving my body every day. Walks, workouts, stretching—consistency > intensity.
2. What I Eat (and When) – I stopped mindlessly eating and started fueling my body with purpose. More whole foods, more water, and being honest about portion sizes.
3. Mindset Shift – I stopped treating weight loss like punishment. I chose to see it as an act of self-love, not restriction.
4. Accountability – Whether it was a challenge, a tracker, or checking in with a friend—I made sure I wasn’t doing it alone.
5. Grace Over Perfection – I gave myself permission to mess up without giving up. That mindset alone kept me from quitting when things got tough.
This isn’t just about weight—it’s about showing up for me. Progress over perfection, every single time.

Embarking on a weight loss journey can often feel daunting, but understanding key strategies can enhance your success. First, daily movement is essential; engaging in physical activity doesn't need to be intense. Simple walks or quick home workouts can significantly boost your motivation and vitality. Second, nutrition plays a pivotal role; fueling your body with whole foods and staying hydrated can drastically improve your wellbeing. Being mindful of what and when you eat can help regulate portion sizes, ensuring that you nourish rather than deprive yourself. Additionally, adopting a positive mindset is crucial. Viewing weight loss as a journey of self-love instead of punishment fosters a healthier relationship with your body. Accountability is another important aspect; sharing your goals with a friend or joining a support group can keep you motivated and make the process enjoyable. Lastly, embrace perfection in moderation. Allowing yourself grace during setbacks is vital; it’s about progress, not perfection. Remember, every small change counts toward achieving your weight loss goals, and the journey itself is as important as the destination.

Finding a support system, and knowing that if I write down my negative thoughts and feelings, but shred the paper that I wrote it on. It makes me feel emotionally lighter and free from it making me talk negative about all of the progress, and how I look at myself in the mirror. It can help lighten my mood, and my issues don't seem as big as I thought it was before I wrote it all down and shredded it through the paper shredder.
