iOS 18! Let’s talk about it!

Every time there’s a new iOS, it does something to my little heart, I start planning in my head how I’m going to use new features to help me not only become more productive at my job or tasks, but also become a better me. I’ll be adding how I plan to use these features at work and or better myself.

I have the beta version so I was able to play around with some of the features and here’s what I love about it so far.

🩵Hide apps: Now we can add a password to individual apps and decide if those apps should be moved to hidden apps folder (which requires a password to even see what’s there). I think this further personalized your phone and I love it.

- My kids aren’t allowed to watch YouTube videos for obvious reasons so the fact that I won’t have to look over every time they have my phone because I know YouTube is locked away is fantastic with me. A little peace of mind

⭐️Overall rating: 4/5

🤍Icons: I love that you can change the icons to whatever color you want, and there’s even an option to tint and change the brightness which is so cool! I hated having to download another app to change my icons. Another thing I love about this is the fact that you can arrange the icons to anywhere.

- My color preferences change with my

Mood, not sure if I’m The only one, so the fact that I can change my icons colors is absolutely wonderful to me

⭐️Overall rating: 4/5

🤍Control Center: this one might be my favorite one yet. Not only can you redesign the icons how you want them to appear, round or rectangular, but there’s so much more option and there’s an entire gallery to choose from. This one you just have to see it to understand.

- I literally have all the controls I use for work and they help me become more productive like the translator and such. And I love that I can add lots of controls here too

⭐️Overall rating: 5/5

🤍Messages: they’ve done so much with the messages features. First of and probably the biggest thing to

Me is that you can schedule messages now? Whaat! (No excuses to text your loved ones 👀). There’s also major text options to choose from. I also love the new designs for the Tapback emojis. Absolutely adorable.

⭐️Overall rating: 5/5

🤍Mail: I absolutely love that we can have our mail sorted now. I know Gmail Has had this feature for like forever, and I’m glad the Mail App finally caught up, I’ve always loved this feature but I use the Mail on my iPad and iPhone so I never got to use it at all.

This one is the one I’ll be utilizing a lot for work as all my mail is on my phone so now I can just sort personal and work, absolutely fantastic

⭐️Overall rating: 4/5

... Read moreWhen I first heard about the 'Hide Apps' feature in iOS 18, I honestly thought it was just for privacy from snooping eyes, but it's so much more! Beyond keeping certain apps away from little hands, I've found it incredibly useful for decluttering my main home screen. I used to stash less-used apps in folders, but now I can completely move them to a 'Hidden' folder, requiring a passcode to even see them. This isn't just about security; it's about intentionality. For my work apps, I can keep them visible when I need them, but quickly move them to the hidden section when I'm off the clock, helping me maintain a better work-life balance. It creates a cleaner digital space, making my 'hello screen' feel less overwhelming and more tailored to my current focus. Talk about a game-changer for personalization! The 'Icons Customization' in iOS 18 is something I've been dreaming of. Before, if I wanted a specific aesthetic, I'd have to use third-party apps and Shortcuts, which could be clunky. Now, it's native! I love how easily I can change my app icons to match my mood or a seasonal theme. Just yesterday, I experimented with a pastel palette, using the tint and brightness sliders to get the exact shade I wanted. And the freedom to arrange icons anywhere on the screen? Revolutionary! No more rigid grid. I've created a minimalist look with just a few key apps centered, leaving plenty of space for my wallpaper to shine. It really makes my iPhone feel uniquely mine every time I unlock it, transforming that 'hello screen' into a personal canvas. The Control Center got a massive upgrade, and it's quickly become one of my most-used features. When I first dove into the 'CONTROL GALLERY', I was amazed by the sheer number of options. It's not just about rearranging; it's about adding functionality that genuinely streamlines my day. For my work setup, I've added quick toggles for 'Translate' (super handy for international calls!), 'Voice Memos' for quick thoughts, and 'Text Size' so I can adjust it on the fly without digging through settings. Being able to choose between round or rectangular buttons also lets me customize the visual flow. It’s like having a personalized dashboard right at my fingertips, making every interaction smoother and more efficient. It really enhances the overall 'app' experience by giving me instant access to tools without having to launch separate applications. And while we're talking about making life easier, the updates to Messages and Mail might seem small but have huge impacts. Scheduling messages? As someone who often thinks of things late at night but doesn't want to disturb others, this is fantastic. And the Mail app finally sorting emails intelligently has drastically cut down my inbox stress. It's these little quality-of-life improvements across all 'apps' that truly elevate the iOS 18 experience, making my iPhone feel less like a tool and more like a smart assistant tailored just for me. Overall, iOS 18 isn't just a visual refresh; it's a deep dive into personalization and productivity. From the moment you see that 'hello screen' to every interaction with your customized apps and icons, it feels like Apple truly understood what users wanted. I'm still exploring, but these initial features have already made a significant difference in how I use my iPhone daily.
