✨How to send a letter to your future self ✨
There’s lots of reasons why writing a letter to your future self is a great idea, but my main reason is to reflect on myself as a person. And not only that. But also to help concentrate on my goals and not lose sight of what’s important.
This is why I love this app, because you can send a message to yourself via email, or text in the future and it’s absolutely free!

Writing a letter to your future self is more than just a fun activity; it's a powerful tool for self-reflection and personal growth. I initially started doing it just out of curiosity, but now I realize how profoundly it helps me stay connected to my past aspirations and track my journey. The FutureMe app makes this process incredibly easy and meaningful, acting like a digital time capsule. What to Include in Your Letter to Your Future Self Many of you might be wondering, "What should I even write?" Here are some ideas and a sort of 'template' to get you started, whether you're crafting a short letter to future self or a more detailed one: Current Life Snapshot: Start by describing your present situation. Where are you living? What are you doing for work or studies? What are your biggest joys and challenges right now? How are you feeling emotionally? This helps your future self vividly recall this period. Dreams, Goals, and Fears: What are your aspirations for the next 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, or even 5 years? Be specific! What are you working towards? What fears or obstacles are you currently facing, and how do you hope to overcome them? This is a core part of the 'letter to future self therapy' aspect, allowing you to track progress and acknowledge growth. Words of Wisdom or Advice: What advice would your current self give your future self? Remind them of important lessons you've learned. Encourage them to stay true to their values or to pursue a passion you're currently exploring. Things You're Grateful For: List things you appreciate in your life right now. This can be a wonderful reminder for your future self, especially if they are going through a tough time. Questions for Your Future Self: Ask your future self questions. Did you achieve that goal? Are you happy? What new things have you learned? This creates a dialogue across time. Navigating the FutureMe App Interface Using the FutureMe app is super intuitive. When you open it, you'll see a clear prompt: 'Write a letter To your Future self.' After a quick login/signup (you can even use your Google or Apple account, or just email), you're ready to type. I often start with 'Dear FutureMe, please love yourself' – a gentle reminder to myself. The app's interface is clean and straightforward, focusing solely on the writing experience. Once your message is complete, the next crucial step is choosing your delivery date. The FutureMe app displays options like '6 months', '1 year', '3 years', '5 years', or 'Other...' if you want a custom date. You can even pick a 'Specific Date' from a calendar, or select 'Surprise Me' for an unexpected delivery. I love setting different letters for different timeframes – some short and encouraging for a few months out, and longer, more reflective ones for a few years down the line. After you click 'SEND', you'll get a confirmation screen saying 'Your letter was sent successfully.' You can then 'Write another letter' or 'Read public letters' for inspiration. Receiving these letters, often as an email time capsule, is such a unique experience. It's truly a form of self-care, providing a moment of pause and reflection. It helps me embrace the journey, reinforce self-love ideas, and motivates me to keep working on a healthy lifestyle. If you're looking for a simple yet profound way to practice self-reflection and journaling, diving into the FutureMe app is a fantastic idea.
