My current favorite apps ✨

Hey besties 👀 if you know me, you know I’m always on the hunt for apps that keep my life (and brain) in check — and ofc I’m sharing my favs. Let’s dive in 🫶🏽

🧠 FocusPomo

What it is: a minimal Pomodoro timer to help you actually focus.

Why I’m obsessed: When my brain is all over the place, this helps me lock in. Perfect for creators, students, or when you’re in “I need to get stuff done” mode.

⏳ Sincey – Countdown Widgets

What it is: a super cute app to countdown (or count up) from events — with home screen widgets.

Why I’m obsessed: I track everything — birthdays, trips, anniversaries, even personal milestones. It makes time feel ✨aesthetic✨ and meaningful.

📆 Calflow

What it is: a hybrid between a calendar and a to-do list (aka dream setup).

Why I’m obsessed: You can literally drag your tasks into your schedule. Feels like digital planning but without the chaos. Visual girlies, this one’s for us.

📝 Reminders (yes, the Apple one)

What it is: The built-in reminders app on your iPhone.

Why I’m obsessed: It’s simple, free, and honestly… underrated. I use it daily for lists, groceries, errands, you name it. Bonus: it syncs with everything.

📚 Structured – Daily Planner

What it is: A time-blocking app that lets you build your day, hour by hour.

Why I’m obsessed: If you’re like me and need to see your time to manage it, this app is everything. Keeps me grounded and helps me stop overbooking myself.

🌱 Forest – Focus Timer

What it is: A focus app that plants a tree while you work — and it dies if you leave the app 😩

Why I’m obsessed: It gamifies focus time and supports real-world tree planting?? Say less. I use this when I want to go full “do not disturb” mode.

have you tried any of these?

... Read moreOkay, besties, let's get real about productivity apps. While I shared my absolute top picks, I know getting started or even knowing how to best integrate them into your life can be a whole other challenge. I used to feel overwhelmed by all the options, but after years of trial and error, I've found some personal strategies that make these tools truly transformative. Let's talk more about focus apps, especially those based on the Pomodoro technique. Apps like FocusPomo aren't just simple timers; they're designed to train your brain for sustained concentration. I personally start with a 25-minute work interval and a 5-minute break, but the key is to experiment and find what works for your brain. If you're new to the Pomodoro method, don't feel pressured to dive straight into long sessions. Start small, maybe 15 minutes, and gradually increase. It's about building a habit. I find setting an intention for each Pomodoro session incredibly helpful – instead of just "work," I'll tell myself "complete X section of report." This makes the timer feel less like a chore and more like a focused sprint. Then there’s the delightful Forest app. The original post mentioned its unique twist, but what truly makes it a fantastic focus mode app for me is its gamified approach to planting trees with every successful focused timer. It's not just about avoiding distractions; it's about building something positive. When I need to go 'full do not disturb,' Forest is my go-to. Seeing that tiny digital tree grow during my session makes me genuinely reluctant to leave the app, which is exactly what I need for deep work. Plus, the thought of contributing to real-world tree planting is just icing on the cake! Beyond focus, tracking your progress app capabilities are crucial for staying motivated. While Sincey is amazing for countdowns, I've also found it can be a great memory tracker for personal milestones or long-term goals. Instead of just counting down to a birthday, try setting a countdown to a personal project deadline or a health goal. It adds a visual reminder to your home screen that keeps your aspirations front and center. For those of us who thrive on visual organization, the focus calendar app category, or more broadly, visual planners like Calflow and Structured, are life-savers. Calflow truly shines if you prefer a visual into your day. I love being able to drag tasks directly onto my calendar; it makes planning feel less abstract and more concrete. Structured, on the other hand, is my secret weapon for time-blocking. I use it to literally build my day, hour by hour, especially for recurring tasks or when I have a packed schedule. It helps me allocate realistic time slots and prevents me from overbooking myself, which used to be a huge problem for me. It's not just a schedule; it's a commitment to how I'll spend my precious time. Even the humble Apple Reminders, which I initially underrated, has become a core part of my daily flow. Beyond grocery lists, I use it for mini-project management for things around the house or planning trips. Sharing lists with family members means we're all on the same page for errands or event prep. It’s simple, yes, but its integration with the Apple ecosystem makes it incredibly powerful. Ultimately, the best productivity app is the one you’ll actually use. My advice? Don't try to use every app for everything. Find one or two that resonate with your working style for focus, one for planning, and one for tracking. The goal isn't to add more apps, but to streamline your process, making you more efficient and, dare I say, happier.
