This MacBook Air Wasn’t What I Thought It would be
okay besties, sooo after 3 months with the MacBook Air M4, I finally have thoughts. And honestly… this laptop surprised me in ways I did not expect.
Let’s get the “ugh” part out of the way:
Yes, it only comes with two usbc ports. TWO.
So if you want to plug in literally anything that isn’t USB-C that being a camera, usb drive, microphone, you’re going to need a hub. Apple really said: “We’ll give you power and vibes, but not ports.” 🙄
And gaming? 😂
Let’s just say… if you’re buying this to game, don’t.
macOS already doesn’t support most games, and even though the M4 chip is powerful, the Air isn’t built for heavy gaming anyway. So yeah, I didn’t even bother there
but the features?
They ate and left no crumbs. Here’s what I didn’t expect to fall in love with:
✨ 1. Widget Customization
I didn’t think I cared about widgets until I got this MacBook.
Now I have my reminders, weather, calendar, and even my little aesthetic widgets sitting right on the desktop. It feels like an extension of my iPhone, it’s super clean, and customizable.
✨ 2. Touch id
This has been elite.
Logging in, downloading apps, unlocking locked notes… all with a tap. No typing long passwords like I’m in 2014.
✨ 3. Access My iPhone on My Mac
This is the feature nobody talks about enough.
I can literally check my phonr from my MacBook screen:
- View messages
- Access photos
- Answer calls
- Copy/paste between devices
It’s giving “everything in one place” energy.
✨ 4. Easily Resize & Move Windows
The window control on macOS is so clean.
Drag a window to the side, snap it where you want, resize it exactly how you like it makes multitasking feel way less chaotic.
✨ 5. copy on iPhone and paste on MacBook
I use this EVERY day.
It feels illegal but it’s just Apple being Apple.
Copy text from your phone then paste it instantly on your mac. Literal magic.
✨ 6. Use iPad as a second monitor
This was such a productivity unlock.
literally when my iPad is close to my MacBook, I can use my iPad as a second monitor, it’s perfect for extra work space
and it makes the whole setup feel way more “pro” than it actually is.
Honestly;
even with its cons, the ports, the gaming limitations, the MacBook Air M4 shines for what it’s meant to be 😩
lightweight, fast, reliable, and insanely connected to the Apple ecosystem. I thought I was just getting a laptop to complete my projects on, after a while I started noticing all I can do with it and honestly,
For $1099, this was definitely a Buy I don’t regret 🙂↔️

Okay, so while my main review dives deep into life with the MacBook Air M4 after a few months, I wanted to chat about something crucial for anyone considering one: the initial unboxing experience and how Apple's 'smart features' (what many call AI!) really shine. First off, that unboxing moment? Pure bliss! You know how Apple packages things so meticulously? Taking the sleek, black MacBook Air out of its box felt incredibly premium. It's not just a laptop; it's an aesthetic statement right from the start. That first glimpse of the machine, fresh and pristine, sitting there, was definitely a moment, especially seeing that closed black MacBook Air ready for action. Setting it up was a breeze – Apple's onboarding always feels intuitive, guiding you through connecting to Wi-Fi, transferring data, and getting logged in with your Apple ID. It truly felt like stepping into an upgraded version of my digital life, ready to explore all its potential. The build quality, the vibrant display – those initial impressions really set the tone for the next three months. Now, let's talk about 'how to use Apple MacBook Air M4 AI,' because while Apple might not always brand everything with a big 'AI' sticker, the M4 chip is clearly designed to make your life smarter and more seamless. It's less about a single 'AI' feature and more about how the entire ecosystem works together intelligently. Think about it: the Touch ID button isn't just a fingerprint scanner; it's a smart security system that learns and adapts for quick, secure access. Instead of typing passwords, a simple touch gets you in – that's intelligence at work, streamlining your daily tasks. Then there's the magic of continuity features. My favorite? The Universal Clipboard. Copy something on your iPhone, and it's instantly available to paste on your MacBook. This isn't just a simple sync; it’s the devices intelligently anticipating your workflow. Or how about iPhone mirroring and using your iPad as a second monitor? It's like your devices are talking to each other, knowing exactly what you need without you having to manually connect things. This seamless integration, often leveraging AirDrop & Handoff capabilities, makes juggling tasks between devices feel incredibly intuitive. It’s all powered by the M4 chip, allowing these complex interactions to happen effortlessly in the background. Even something as simple as customized desktop with various widgets goes beyond mere personalization. It’s about macOS intelligently presenting information you need at a glance, making your desktop a smarter dashboard. And the Mission Control feature for managing windows? It’s an intelligent way to organize your digital workspace, making multitasking less chaotic. The M4 chip truly elevates these experiences, ensuring everything runs smoothly and responsively. So, while you might not find a dedicated 'AI app,' the M4 Air is packed with smart capabilities that make everyday computing wonderfully intelligent and efficient.

This is so helpful!
