... Read moreHaving gone through the stress of accidentally deleting photos from Google Photos, I can share some insights on recovery attempts that might help others facing the same dilemma. While Google Photos usually keeps deleted items for 60 days in the trash folder, once you clear the trash or time passes, those photos are considered 'permanently deleted' and are much harder to retrieve. From my experience, recovery after permanent deletion depends on several factors. If you had synced your Google Photos with other devices or cloud backups, checking those platforms can be the easiest path to recover images. Sometimes, your device’s local storage or SD card may still retain temporary cached copies, so using third-party data recovery software can be effective when acting fast. However, it's important to manage expectations because once data is overwritten or deleted from Google's servers completely, recovery chances drop significantly. Google itself does not offer direct recovery options once permanent deletion occurs beyond the trash folder timeline. To prevent future loss, I recommend enabling the backup & sync feature in Google Photos consistently, and periodically downloading important photos to your computer or external drives. Also, consider using file recovery apps designed for Android or iOS if you often manage photos on your mobile device. Understanding these recovery limitations and acting promptly if accidental deletion happens can save you from permanent photo loss. Though losing cherished photos is frustrating, staying informed about recovery windows and backup strategies really helped me mitigate risks and regain some deleted pictures I thought were gone forever.
