ถ้าเพิ่งเริ่มทำบุญสาย “ถวายผ้าห่มพระ” มักจะงงเหมือนกันว่า ผ้าห่มพระพุทธรูปเรียกว่าอะไรแน่ ๆ จากที่เจอคนถามบ่อย ๆ คำที่คนไทยใช้กันหลัก ๆ คือ “ผ้าสไบห่มพระ” หรือเรียกสั้น ๆ ว่า “สไบ” บางวัด/บางพื้นที่ก็เรียกรวม ๆ ว่า “ผ้าห่มพระ” ซึ่งความหมายคือผ้าที่ใช้คล้อง/พาด/ห่มองค์พระพุทธรูปเพื่อความสวยงามและความเป็นสิริมงคลในการถวายค่ะ แล้ว “สไบห่มพระ” ต่างจากผ้าทั่วไปยังไง? โดยทั่วไปจะเป็นผ้าตัดเย็บให้ได้ทรงสวย มีชายครุยหรือมีการปัก/ตกแต่ง (แล้วแต่ศรัทธาและงบ) เพื่อให้เวลาห่มองค์พระแล้วดูเรียบร้อย ไม่หลุดง่าย และเข้ากับพุทธศิลป์ขององค์พระค่ะ บางคนเลือกเป็นผ้าไหมปัก ผ้าลูกไม้ ผ้าต่วน หรือผ้าตาดทอง เพราะดูสง่าและอยู่ทรงดี ทริคเลือก “สไบ” ให้เหมาะกับองค์พระ (อันนี้ช่วยลดการซื้อผิดขนาดได้เยอะ) 1) วัดหน้าตักองค์พระก่อน: ถ้าถวายพระประธานหรือองค์ใหญ่ แนะนำวัดหน้าตัก/ความสูงคร่าว ๆ แล้วค่อยเลือกขนาดผ้าตามนั้น จะช่วยให้ห่มแล้วไม่สั้นเต่อหรือยาวลากพื้นเกินไป 2) เลือกโทนสีให้เหมาะโอกาส: หลายคนเลือกสีตามวันเกิดหรือความหมายมงคล เช่น เหลืองทอง (เสริมบุญบารมี), ขาว (ความบริสุทธิ์), แดง (โชคลาภ/กำลังใจ), ม่วง (เมตตามหานิยม), ชมพู (ความอบอุ่น), เขียว (สุขภาพ) 3) เลือกเนื้อผ้าตามสถานที่: ถ้าเป็นวัดที่มีลมแรงหรืออยู่กลางแจ้ง เลือกผ้าที่มีน้ำหนักและอยู่ทรง เช่น ต่วน/ตาดทอง จะช่วยให้จัดทรงง่ายกว่าผ้าบาง ๆ 4) งานปัก/ประดับควรพอดี: ถ้าห่มองค์พระที่มีลวดลายเยอะอยู่แล้ว เลือกผ้าเรียบ ๆ ก็สวยสง่ามาก แต่ถ้าองค์พระเรียบ การเลือกผ้าปักหรือประกายเล็กน้อยจะช่วยให้ดูเด่นขึ้น ส่วนคำถามยอดฮิตอีกอย่างคือ “ถวายสไบห่มพระได้อานิสงส์อะไร” คนโบราณเชื่อว่าเป็นการถวายสิ่งที่งดงามแด่องค์พระ ช่วยเสริมบารมี ความเจริญในงานและการเงิน ทำให้บ้านครอบครัวอยู่เย็นเป็นสุข และยังเป็นการร่วมอนุรักษ์ศิลปวัฒนธรรมในวัดให้สวยงามต่อไปด้วยค่ะ สุดท้าย ถ้าไม่แน่ใจจริง ๆ แนะนำถ่ายรูปองค์พระ + แจ้งขนาดหน้าตัก/งบประมาณ แล้วให้คนที่ตัดเย็บช่วยออกแบบก่อน จะได้สไบห่มพระที่พอดีองค์และได้บุญแบบสบายใจค่ะ
