My Pups

Oh my goodness, I totally get it! My two pups, a mischievous grey and white pup and her equally playful tan and white pup sibling, just hit the 7-month mark, and it feels like they've officially declared themselves the rulers of the house. 😂 It's such a wild and wonderful stage, isn't it? One minute they're little angels, the next they're wrestling in the living room like tiny gladiators, or trying to 'help' me unpack groceries by pulling everything out of the bags. At 7 months old, they're definitely not those sleepy little puppies anymore. Their energy levels are through the roof! I've found that consistent exercise is key – long walks, playing fetch in the park, and even some indoor games on rainy days. It’s not just about physical activity, though. Mental stimulation is just as important. I love setting up puzzle toys for them or doing short, fun training sessions to keep their brains engaged. It helps tire them out and also reinforces good behaviors, even if they sometimes pretend to forget everything they learned last week! This 'teenage' phase for 7-month-old dogs comes with its own unique set of challenges. My grey and white pup, for instance, has suddenly decided that my favorite slippers are the perfect chew toy, despite having a whole basket full of her own. And the tan and white pup is testing boundaries left and right, trying to sneak onto the couch when I’m not looking. It’s all part of them figuring out their place in the world, and I've learned that patience (and a good supply of sturdy chew toys!) is my best friend. Redirecting their energy to appropriate outlets and lots of positive reinforcement has been a game-changer. But honestly, even with all the antics, this age is incredibly rewarding. Their personalities are really shining through. The way they greet me at the door with wagging tails and enthusiastic licks, or how they curl up together for a nap after a big play session – those moments just melt my heart. They're developing such strong bonds, not just with me, but with each other. Watching them explore the world with such curiosity and joy really reminds me to appreciate the little things. To any fellow dog moms out there with 7-month-old pups: hang in there! This stage can be a whirlwind, but it’s also a time of incredible growth and bonding. Keep up with the training, provide plenty of appropriate outlets for their energy, and don't forget to cuddle those furry little monsters whenever you get the chance. They might think they run the show now, but they're also showering us with unconditional love every single day. And that, to me, is what being a dog mom is all about.
