yes I am autistic and I'm proud to represent autism awareness month not only for me but for other autistic people yes ik it's hard to be autistic and people don't really understand the struggles we actually go through daily some things are harder for us like understanding body language or being to friendly

... Read moreCelebrating Autism Awareness Month is not only about recognition but also about deepening understanding and empathy for the autistic community. Living with autism means navigating a world that often misunderstands the way we communicate and relate to others. For me, one of the ongoing challenges is interpreting body language—something most people pick up intuitively but can be confusing and ambiguous when you’re autistic. This can make social interactions exhausting and sometimes discouraging. Being "too friendly" or misinterpreting social cues might lead others to misunderstand our intentions, but it’s essential to recognize that these behaviors stem from a genuine desire for connection. Over the years, I have found that openly sharing my experiences during Autism Awareness Month helps reduce stigma and opens doors for dialogue. It’s important for everyone to realize that autism is a spectrum, and each person’s experiences and needs differ. Support networks, whether online or in person, have been invaluable. Connecting with others who share similar challenges has provided comfort and practical advice. Additionally, educating friends and family about what autism means for me personally has helped build patience and acceptance. A shift toward more inclusive environments where differences in communication and social interaction are respected can dramatically improve the quality of life for autistic individuals. Autism Awareness Month reminds us all to embrace neurodiversity and appreciate the unique perspectives autistic people bring to our communities. By fostering understanding, we can build a more compassionate world where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

And I struggle. I am a human being. Sure, I have good days and not-so-good days, where my pain flares up and I feel dysphoric and the sound of students makes me want to scream due to overstimulation. Sure I cry a lot in my free time, and sleep as soon as I get home, I forget to eat and drink. S

3 things I do to accommodate my autistic needs
It’s not always easy to remain productive being autistic. I get very easily distracted, I don’t manage my time well, I am often overwhelmed by my environment, and I lose sight of my initial goals. I’ve finally accepted that my productivity looks different from those around me, and honestly, I’m

Some autistic people like concerts, too
Whenever I tell someone that I love going to concerts, I often get the side eye. The one that says, how can you like loud stuff if you are sensory avoidant? A couple of things: First, having sensory struggles is not a required part of an autism diagnosis. It is an often included one, but not exp
