These almost stayed hidden in my camera roll

I used to overthink every little detail my skin, my hair, the lighting, the angle.

But I’ve learned that perfection isn’t what people connect with. Authenticity is.

So here’s your reminder to post the picture. Wear the outfit. Share the memory.

Someone out there needs to see the version of you that you almost kept to yourself. 🤍

Save this for the days you’re overthinking.

... Read moreI used to be very critical of my photos, often deleting ones where I felt my skin wasn’t flawless, my hair messy, or the lighting less than ideal. Over time, I realized that these so-called imperfections actually made my pictures more relatable and genuine. For example, I once almost deleted a photo because I thought my locs looked too messy, but it turned out to be one of my favorites. This taught me that authenticity often resonates far more than a polished image. One of the hardest things to overcome is the tendency to compare our photos and lives to others’. Comparison can steal the joy out of reminiscing about precious moments captured on camera. Instead, I remind myself that my journey is unique. Sharing the raw, unfiltered versions of myself—whether it’s a smile with uneven lighting or a candid moment in an outfit I almost didn’t wear—builds genuine connections with others who appreciate the real me. It’s also important to remember that progress matters more than perfection. Showing up consistently, sharing your true self, and celebrating even small wins can inspire both you and your audience. No one is perfect, and the imperfections tell a powerful story of growth and self-love. If you’re feeling hesitant about posting a photo or sharing a memory, know that someone out there might need that authenticity just as much as you do. Let go of overthinking the details like lighting or angles, and choose yourself—your real self—because that’s what truly connects and leaves a meaningful impact.
