By combining powdered milk and cocoa powder with a touch of cornstarch and salt, you achieve a creamy, smooth texture and a rich chocolate flavor that rivals many commercial brands. To prepare a cup of hot cocoa, simply mix about two to three tablespoons of this homemade blend with hot water or milk until well dissolved. For an extra indulgent treat, add a spoonful to your morning coffee to create a delightful mocha beverage. Storing the mix in an airtight container keeps it fresh for weeks, making it perfect for quick preparation during cold days or whenever a chocolatey pick-me-up is needed. You can also personalize the mix by adding a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or even a splash of vanilla extract for added depth. This homemade mix provides a wholesome alternative to store-bought packets, which often contain preservatives and artificial flavors. Plus, it’s a wonderful gift idea during the holidays when packaged in decorative jars. Experiment with the ratios to find your perfect balance of richness and creaminess. For creamier hot cocoa, increase the powdered milk; for a stronger chocolate taste, add more cocoa powder. This simple recipe can be your base for countless delicious variations.
