The guilt of Christmas.
✨I’ll be the first to admit, I am often (very often) guilty of this! I hear what others are buying their children, or loved ones, and wonder did I do enough? Will the ones I love feel cheated or disappointed? The guilt that lingers, all through this holiday can sometimes be overwhelming. When did things get so complicated? When did we start feeling like the only way to show the ones we love how much we care, is to shower them with material things, only to make ourselves feel not good enough in the process? The stigma of it all is truly depressing. It’s time we take back Christmas, no matter if you have 30 presents under the tree, or none. You are ENOUGH! Material things disappear, break, or are long forgotten over the years. The thing your loved ones will hold onto are the way YOU made the feel. Loved, protected, cared for. That is what truly matters at the end of the day! #takingbackchristmas #holidaydepression #christmas #wegotthis
As the holiday season approaches, many experience feelings of inadequacy when comparing their celebrations to others. The urge to impress with numerous gifts can overshadow the real essence of Christmas, which is gratitude, love, and togetherness. Recognizing that familial bonds and heartfelt memories far outweigh material goods is essential for a fulfilling holiday. The hashtag #takingbackchristmas has gained traction, encouraging everyone to prioritize emotional connections over physical gifts. Embrace experiences instead of possessions—consider creating new traditions or volunteering with your loved ones. Meanwhile, the phenomenon of #holidaydepression can serve as a wake-up call. By sharing these feelings openly, the stigma around holiday guilt begins to fade, allowing for authentic conversations about the pressures result from societal expectations. Find strength in community: surrounding yourself with supportive friends and family can make all the difference. Remember, the most treasured memories aren’t the expensive gifts or extravagant gatherings, but the moments of laughter, shared meals, and love that you give and receive during this season.
