The devil in tarot card series

Salt Lake City
2025/4/11 Edited to

... Read moreThe Devil tarot card often gets a bad rap, but from my experience, it's one of the most powerful cards for self-reflection and growth, especially when you're feeling stuck. It's not about literal evil, but rather the chains we forge for ourselves through materialism, addiction, negative thought patterns, or feeling trapped. Understanding The Devil Upright: When The Devil appears upright, it’s a big wake-up call to examine areas where you might feel bound or restricted. This could be anything from a toxic relationship you can't seem to leave, a job you despise but feel obligated to keep, or even unhealthy habits that control you. It often speaks to a feeling of powerlessness, where you believe external forces or circumstances are dictating your life. It's a mirror showing you where you've given your power away. For me, when I first saw this card in a reading while living in SLC, UT, it really hit close to home, making me question what I truly valued versus what I was clinging to out of fear or comfort. It asks: what are your addictions, compulsions, or unhealthy attachments? Recognizing these is the first step towards breaking free. The Devil Reversed: Breaking the Chains Ah, The Devil reversed – this is often a much more hopeful sign! When this card shows up upside down, it suggests you're starting to see the truth about your situation and are actively working to break free from limitations. You're beginning to understand that the chains holding you back are often self-imposed illusions. It signifies a release from addiction, a newfound clarity in a difficult relationship, or finally finding the courage to leave a suffocating situation. It’s a powerful moment of liberation and reclaiming your personal power. It’s about realizing you have agency and can choose a different path, even if it's scary. In Love and Relationships: In a love reading, The Devil can point to obsessive behavior, codependency, or a relationship built on unhealthy foundations like lust or control rather than genuine affection. It might highlight power struggles or a feeling of being trapped by your partner or even by your own expectations. Reversed, it suggests a couple or individual is breaking free from a toxic dynamic, recognizing their worth, and moving towards healthier connections. It can be a call to confront uncomfortable truths about what you're willing to accept in love. Spiritual and Career Meanings: Spiritually, The Devil challenges you to look at your shadow self, your hidden desires, and the parts of you that you might suppress or deny. It's about integrating these darker aspects rather than letting them control you. In a career context, it could mean being trapped in a job solely for money, feeling exploited, or engaging in unethical practices. Reversed, it's about finding inner strength to pursue a career that truly aligns with your values, even if it means leaving a comfortable but unfulfilling situation. The Devil and Tower Combination: When The Devil appears with The Tower, brace yourself for a significant shift! The Tower signifies sudden, often chaotic destruction of old structures or beliefs. Combined with The Devil, it suggests that the foundations being shaken are those built on unhealthy attachments or illusions. This combination can be intense, representing a dramatic and necessary break from something that has held you captive. It might feel like everything is falling apart, but it's ultimately clearing the way for a more authentic and liberated future. It's a powerful message that the truth will be revealed, and freedom, though potentially painful in its arrival, is on its way.
