Kengo Kuma and Yusuhara Town.
Kengo Kuma, who visited Yusuhara Town, was impressed by the wooden architecture of the Yusuhara Community Center (now Yusuhara-za) and became involved in preservation activities.
From there, the relationship between Kengo Kuma and Yusuhara Town began. Using Yusuhara native wood, various facilities were born in Yusuhara Town, such as a hotel above the clouds (1994-2021 * currently vacant land for reconstruction), Yusuhara Town General Office Building (2006), Gallery above the clouds (2010), Machi no Eki Yusuhara (2010), YURURI Yusuhara (2018), Library above the clouds (2018).
Kengo Kuma describes Yusuhara as "his starting point" and is now a world-class architect.
