Why is it so hard to just survive now days?

2 income house hold, a baby on the way but not enough money... I had a sonogram appointment today and because I have an outstanding balance they almost didn't see me. I can't afford to pay any of these bills. I am so incredibly stressed and need to find a way to make some extra money but nothing I've tried seems to work.
