Today, I want to share some of my hard-earned knowledge about two crucial elements: the mysterious Voodoo Doll and the infamous Cursed Possessions, which I often refer to as 'Words of Power' due to their game-changing impact. Let's talk about the Voodoo Doll first. This creepy little item can be a game-changer or a death sentence, depending on how you use it. When you push a pin into it, you're forcing the ghost to interact with the environment, often revealing its true location. But beware, each pin costs you sanity! Some ghost types react uniquely, making the Voodoo Doll even more strategic. For instance, a Mare might respond more aggressively to pins if you're in the dark, trying to drain your sanity faster. Goryo, on the other hand, tend to be shy and might be forced into action, but their general aversion to interactions makes them tricky. Demons are always a risk; using the doll might trigger a hunt much faster, as they love to hunt. Knowing these subtle differences, which you learn over many hours of gameplay, can help you decide if it's worth the sanity gamble to locate a ghost or get that crucial photo evidence. Next, the 'Words of Power'—my term for the Cursed Possessions scattered across the maps. These items are incredibly potent, but they come with a high risk. Knowing their locations and how to use them is paramount. The Ouija Board, for example, can give you answers but drains sanity rapidly and can trigger a hunt if you upset the ghost. You can find it in various places, like a child's bedroom on Tanglewood or a basement on Ridgeview. The Music Box is eerie; it forces the ghost to sing along, revealing its position, but if it touches the ghost, prepare for a cursed hunt. Summoning Circles are rare but powerful, trapping the ghost momentarily for a photo op, but performing the ritual often guarantees a hunt right after. Tarot Cards offer random effects, from sanity restoration to instant death. The Monkey Paw grants wishes, but always with a twist! And the Haunted Mirror shows you the ghost room at a severe sanity cost. Each map has common spawn points for these items. On larger maps like Brownstone High School or Asylum, they can be hidden in classrooms, offices, or common areas. Smaller maps like Tanglewood or Ridgeview tend to place them in more obvious spots like living rooms, bedrooms, or basements. My advice for finding these 'Words of Power' is to sweep every room thoroughly at the start of the investigation, especially before the ghost becomes active. Knowing where these tools are can help you plan your strategy, whether you're trying to quickly identify a ghost or just attempting to survive. Mastering these mechanics takes practice and a lot of courage. It's about knowing when to push your luck and when to play it safe. With enough dedication, you might even achieve something truly remarkable, like my personal milestone of a "World First Blindfold 3 Star Ghost Photo." Yes, you read that right! Capturing a perfect 3-star ghost photo while blindfolded was an insane challenge, requiring an almost psychic understanding of ghost behavior and map layout, along with strategic use of items like the Voodoo Doll to pinpoint the ghost's movements. This kind of achievement, which might have shown up in my image as '1/80 Fn 1/80' indicating the perfect shot, comes only after countless hours of learning every nuance of Phasmophobia, including how ghosts react to Voodoo Dolls and where to strategically use all the Cursed Possessions. Keep exploring, keep learning, and you might just surprise yourself with what you can achieve in the dark!
