Cleaning & decorating my new apartment
So I abruptly and surprisingly got approved for a new slightly bigger apartment after my grandma died. But I’ve been here 3 months now and can barely keep one area cleaned for more than 4 days. I’m trying to create healthy cleaning habits and decorating to get out of this nasty depressive mindset so here is part one. #cleanmydepressionroom #cleanapartment #realisticcleaning
I know 'house cleaning' can sound like a huge, daunting task, especially when you're feeling overwhelmed or just trying to navigate life's challenges. Sometimes, just the thought of it can feel too much. But I've learned that it doesn't have to be a monumental effort all at once. What really helped me start my journey to a cleaner, cozier apartment was breaking everything down into tiny, manageable steps. Instead of looking at the whole apartment, I started with one small area. Maybe it was just wiping down the kitchen counter, or decluttering my nightstand. The goal wasn't perfection, but simply *starting*. I found that even just 10-15 minutes of focused effort can make a surprisingly big difference. It's not about achieving a 'before and after' overnight, but about consistent, small 'afters' that build up. Here are a few tricks I picked up for realistic house cleaning and creating a space that feels good: The 15-Minute Power Clean: Set a timer for 15 minutes and tackle one specific task. When the timer goes off, you're done! You'd be amazed how much you can get done in a short burst. This makes 'house cleaning' feel less like a day-long chore and more like a series of quick wins. One Thing a Day: Pick one small cleaning task to do each day. Maybe Monday is wiping the bathroom sink, Tuesday is vacuuming the living room rug, Wednesday is tidying the coffee table. These small actions prevent clutter from piling up and make the overall 'cleaning' less intimidating. Make it a Habit, Not a Herculean Effort: Try to link cleaning to something you already do. For instance, while your coffee brews, wipe down the kitchen counter. Before bed, put away any stray items in the living room. These small, consistent efforts are key to keeping your apartment feeling 'clean and cozy' without feeling like you're constantly scrubbing. Focus on 'Cozying Up' as Much as Cleaning: Cleaning isn't just about sparkling surfaces; it's about making your space feel like a sanctuary. After you've cleaned, take a moment to 'cozy up' your apartment. This could mean fluffing pillows, arranging a throw blanket, lighting a candle, or adding a small plant. These simple touches can transform the feel of a room and make all your cleaning efforts feel more rewarding. Don't Aim for Perfection: Life is messy, and so are our homes sometimes. The goal isn't a magazine-perfect apartment every day, but a space that supports your well-being. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small. Every item put away, every surface wiped, is a step towards a more peaceful and inviting home. It's about creating an environment where you can relax and recharge after a long day, truly cleaning and 'cozying up' your apartment for yourself.
